News from the Nest

There has been a lot of exciting activity taking place in our Makerspace Lab. Last week, all classes visited the lab to work in STEM stations. Chris Rogers, Director of F1S STEM, used virtual reality goggles to allow students to experience the Milky Way galaxy, each individual planet especially Mars with its Rover, the Moon, The Northern Lights, roller coasters for force and motion, and several animals - sea turtles, sharks, dolphins, gorillas, and elephants. Students used Zspace computers to manipulate models to describe and classify the pattern distribution of land and water features on Earth. First through Fifth grades also worked with complex drawing and design with Tilt Brush! Students drew their own pictures and added special effects. STEM education creates critical thinkers, increases science literacy, and enables the next generation of innovators!
