This year, to streamline communication, we decided to make a one-stop-shop for all things Hillcrest "The Heart of Hillcrest". This site will help guide parents on what is going on at Hillcrest and who to contact for various questions. This site will be upgraded regularly.
When our new website administrators are trained, we will also update our website with the same information.

Hillcrest Updates
Hillcrest Testing Updates
Nine Weeks Assessments
All courses will be taking their nine-week assessments Oct 5-7 in class.
Please ensure your students are at school for each of their assessments. These assessments are worth 15% of their nine-week grade.
Fall Testing Dates
Please ensure your student is at school for each testing date. To ensure all students have a testing environment that is uninterrupted, students will need to stay for the entire test session.
Specific test information will be available at 1-2 weeks before each testing date.
PSAT Testing
PSAT Testing is October 21. All 10th grade students along with 9th and 11th grade Dallas ISD Scholars will participate in this testing session. All parents will receive a call-out on Monday if their child will be testing.
What is an Accelerated Tester?
Any student who took the Algebra I EOC in 8th grade are considered accelerated testers by TEA. These students' SAT Math scores count for the school's accountability their senior year. TEA takes the best SAT Math score (out of all 4 high school years) from the student to account in the school's accountability rating.
How does the SAT Math score translate to performance levels for the school's accountability?
These are the minimum scores based on the student's Algebra I EOC performance level.
Approaches: 440-520
Meets: 530-680
Masters: 690-800
My student is an accelerated tester. How does it affect graduation?
The SAT score doesn't affect graduation. The score only affects the school's accountability.
Will all accelerated testers take the SAT on Oct. 21?
No. If the student has met the minimum score based on their Algebra I performance level (above), they will not be on the list to test.

Application Workshops
We know students have busy schedules, and we also know that class time is important. That is why we make efforts to be available outside of the school day and work around your student’s schedule. Our ASP office is open Monday–Friday from 8:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m. (We are at the Richland campus most Wednesday and every other Friday) Students are welcome to stop by before school, during lunch, or after school to meet with us. We can also schedule appointments to stay after 5:00 p.m. when students need additional time and reach out to us in advance.
This month, we will be hosting two evening Application Parties! One on September 9th 4:30-6:30pm and September 22nd 4:30-7pm. Dinner will be provided, and our advisors will be on campus later in the day to help students work on college applications, essays, scholarships, and anything else they need to stay on track.
ASP SAT Prep
Want to boost your SAT score? Free ASP SAT Prep starts Tuesday, September 8th, and will meet every Tuesday from 4:40 to 5:30 PM in the Library! Come get extra practice, strategies, and support as you prepare for the SAT. All Hillcrest students are welcome!
It’s never too early to start preparing for the SAT! Beginning Tuesday, September 8, ASP will host SAT Prep in the Library after school. We’ll alternate between Math and English each week, and snacks will be provided! Each student has access to two free SAT fee waivers. Stop by the ASP office if you have questions about registering for the SAT or using your fee waivers.
As always, please don't hesitate to stop by the ASP office in the Library, Room 187, to ask us questions, learn more about upcoming events and opportunities for students, or tell us about the amazing things happening in your classrooms.
Senior Updates
ASP Senior Checklist
Each month, ASP will provide students with a checklist of important tasks to help them stay on track with college applications, financial aid, scholarships, and graduation requirements. Get an October checklist from ASP and encourage your student to complete each item by the listed deadline.
If you have questions about any of the items on the checklist, please reach out to the ASP team. We are here to help!

Stock the Teacher's Lounge and Workroom
The Hillcrest PTSA helped our teachers and staff start the school year off right!
We’ve stocked the workroom and break room with coffee, tea, and snacks to keep our amazing educators fueled through all the busy school days ahead.
Thank you to our teachers and staff for all you do for our Panthers—we’re excited for a great year ahead!

How to check-out a student who drives
Email Ms. Balderas at hillcresths@dallasisd.org with a written note that the students needs to be checked-out, the reason, and at what time. In addition, a photo ID of the requester needs to be attached to the email. This is to verify the requester has the legal authority to check out the student.
Be in the Know!
We want every Panther family to feel connected, informed, and involved! Each grade level has a dedicated parent leader ready to share updates, answer questions, and keep everyone in the loop. Together, we can cheer on our Panthers, plan exciting events, host fun fundraisers, and build a strong community. Let’s work side by side to create lasting memories and make these high school years the very best!
