Hello Blevins Families,

Please save the date for our upcoming student-led conferences on Monday, October 14, and Wednesday, October 16, from 3:00–6:30 p.m. At Blevins, conferences are an opportunity for students to take the lead in sharing their learning, growth, and goals with families. This model empowers our Bruins to reflect on their progress and practice the important skills of communication, responsibility, and self-advocacy. Students have already begun preparing for this event during our Wednesday Homeroom classes.

I also want to share that as I walk the halls each day, I continue to be proud of the many ways our students display kindness—whether it’s helping a classmate, encouraging a teammate, or showing gratitude to staff. These daily acts remind me of the strength of our community and the character of our Bruins.

Finally, please join us for the Canvas Community Classic next Friday. This special event brings our feeder schools together in celebration of learning, connection, and community pride. We hope to see you there!

We're gearing up for the 2nd Annual Bruin Bash on Friday, October 10th. This is our largest community event to celebrate past, present, and future Bruins and to also raise money through our PTO. The money will go directly to students and their experience here at Blevins. Here are a couple of important things to know:

Parenting a Middle Schooler: Monday, September 22, 2025 from 5:30–7:00 PM
During this session, you’ll explore the key social and emotional changes children experience in grades 6–8. You’ll also receive practical tips on what to expect, how to best support your child, and strategies to strengthen your connection during these pivotal years.

We hope you will join us for this valuable opportunity to learn, share, and connect with other families. To hold this event, we require a minimum number of attendees. If this minimum is not met, the event may be cancelled. It’s important to RSVP to help us plan accordingly. Please let us know if you plan to attend here.

Bruin Club: We had an incredible first week in Bruin Club! Students explored a variety of activities—making pasta salad, creating characters for upcoming Dungeons & Dragons battles, and practicing their improv skills. If your student would like to join us after school, please be sure we have a completed 2025–2026 Permission to Participate form on file. Forms can be found in the front office and must be submitted at least 24 hours before a student can attend.

Odyssey of the Minds: Odyssey of the Mind is a creative problem-solving program that pairs perfectly with our PBL program at Blevins. If your student is interested, please review the informational slides and complete the interest form by September 26.

Hearing and Vision Volunteers needed! As required by state law, students will have their vision and hearing screened on Monday, September 29 from 8-11. If your child wears glasses, please be sure they have their glasses at school for the screening.

No experience necessary; Training will be provided.
