A Message from Your Principal Team
Dear Washington Families,
As we approach Thanksgiving break, I want to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude for your ongoing support and commitment to our school community.
Thanksgiving offers us all a chance to slow down, reflect, and appreciate the many blessings in our lives. Our school is more than a place of learning—it’s a community strengthened by the collaboration and dedication of our parents, teachers, students, and partners.
I am truly thankful for the support you provide each day. Whether you volunteer, attend events, or stay actively engaged in your child’s education, your involvement helps create the positive and nurturing environment our students thrive in.
As we head into the break, I hope you find time to rest, connect with loved ones, and enjoy moments of peace and gratitude. Whether you’re celebrating with family, friends, or taking time for quiet reflection, may the week bring joy and warmth.
Please remember that schools will be closed from November 24–28. We look forward to welcoming everyone back on Monday, December 1, 2025.
Thank you again for your partnership. Wishing you and your family a wonderful and joyful Thanksgiving.
Go Eagles! 🦅
Warmly,
Alfredo Belanger, Principal
Antonio Ramos, Asst. Principal
What is happening at Washington?
First Movie Night!
This Friday, Washington’s PUENTE Club hosted our very first Movie Night featuring Ratatouille, and it was a wonderful success! It was truly heartwarming to see so many families come out to support the event. Thank you to everyone who showed up with pillows and blankets and made themselves comfortable for the movie.
We were especially excited to welcome several former Washington graduates who returned to volunteer for our event.A special thank-you to our amazing student volunteers, whose help with setup, concessions, and cleanup made the night run smoothly.
YouthTruth Survey
As of 11/16 we have only heard from 97% of our 3rd-5th grade students, 75% of our staff and only 9% of our amazing families.
Families, I am writing to ask you for ~15 minutes of your time to complete an online survey that will help us improve your child’s school. We have asked YouthTruth – a nonprofit organization that supports hundreds of schools and districts across the country – to conduct an anonymous survey on our behalf.
Please take the survey before it closes at midnight on November 21st by clicking the link below! The survey is available in English, Spanish, and Russian.
Please note:
The survey takes about 15 minutes and needs to be completed in one sitting.
We ask that one member of each household fill out the survey.
If you have more than one child who attends the same school, you may respond to the survey multiple times - one time per child at Washington.
If you write any comments, please do not include your name in your answers or anything else that might identify you. Your responses are anonymous, and they will be combined with the responses of other parents and guardians before being shared back with school and district leadership.
We sincerely thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback. Your response is incredibly valuable to us.
If you have any questions about the survey, or our plans for how we will use your feedback, please contact me at abelanger@woodburnsd.org, or call the school at (971)-983-3050. We look forward to hearing from you, and we will share the results with families as soon as we receive results!
Snack time!
The Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program (FFVP) is a United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) funded annual grant program. Our district implements this grant by providing free fresh fruits and/or vegetables to students in elementary schools where grants have been awarded. The purpose of the program is to increase the variety and frequency of fruits and vegetables that children eat and to positively influence their life-long healthy eating habits. Every morning each classroom is provided with a fresh fruit or vegetable option to enjoy in the classroom.
