World Down Syndrome Day

March 21st is World Down Syndrome Day (WDSD) a global day of celebration and awareness that has been observed by the United Nations since 2012 to educate the world on what Down syndrome is and how individuals with Down syndrome need to be valued in their communities. The date for WDSD — the 21st day of the 3rd month — this represents the triplication (trisomy) of the 21st chromosome, which is commonly called “Down syndrome”, named after Dr. John Langdon Down, a British physician who classified the syndrome.

Every year on March 21, people all around the world celebrate World Down Syndrome Day by wearing brightly colored or mismatched socks. Please join us in celebrating by "Rocking Your Socks" and wearing brightly colored or mismatched socks. Below is a picture from a Marathon classroom celebrating WDSD 2024!

Are you interested in the opportunity to travel abroad in the future? Through the company EF Educational Tours, we are proposing a trip called the "European Quartet" for April break of 2027 (NOT 2026). This includes Amsterdam, Brussels, Paris, and London!

This is certainly a ways away, but we will be having an informational meeting about the trip on Thursday March 20th at 6pm in the high school auditorium to gauge interest. Please RSVP to the meeting by clicking on this link. A parent or guardian must attend. Contact Ryan Waselik (rwaselik@hopkinton.k12.ma.us) if you have any questions or concerns. See you there!

Host Families for International Students

Each year, Hopkinton High School accepts international students to attend HHS for either a semester or full year. These students live with host families and learn what life is in Hopkinton and the surrounding area. International students are always eager to learn and meet new people. Host families are compensated $1000-$1100 a month for opening up their homes.

We are looking for host families for 2025-2026! Have questions? Interested? Please reach out to Mr. Andrew Longoria (alongoria@hopkinton.k12.ma.us).

Unified Tennis

Hopkinton Parks and Recreation is looking for Unified Tennis Partners!

Inspired by a simple principle: training together and playing together is a quick path to friendship and understanding. This new program is designed to join student-athletes with and without intellectual and/or physical disabilities through the sport of tennis. A Unified Partner is a student-athlete without intellectual disabilities who wants to support the athletes learning the sport. Partners are required to have basic tennis skills and experience, and the willingness to foster team play, fun, and friendship.
