Week of Oct. 6th
Dear Duval Families!
October is the month of Teamwork! As we continue to learn and grow at school, students are tasked with finding ways that they can work with one another to solve problems and improve our community.
This week, we have the Napoli Pizza fundraiser. Heidi's Hollow was such a great success, so we hope folks can add Napoli to their menu on Tues or Wednesday. Tomorrow, Monday, is World Smile Day so don't forget to wear a smiley face in some way! We have an Early Release Day on Friday.

World Smile Day
Tomorrow, Monday the 6th, is a national celebration of the smiley face, and has become a day for Duval where we promote happiness and teamwork through smiles.
We invite everyone to wear yellow or smiley faces or whatever you can think of that will bring some joy to friends around you.
Recess Coaches
We are looking for parent volunteers to come to recesses one day a week to be the Ump/Coach for either soccer or football games on the turf. We've found that students do so much better when they have an adult helping with the rules and giving them tips on playing the game. You definitely DON'T need to be an expert!
Please email Dr. Marcus with your availability. This is a great opportunity to hang out with kids, have fun, and help make recess that much better!
50s Celebration Next Week!
Along with the assembly, we are going to dress like the decade each big decade culmination day. To give everyone a chance to prepare, dress like the 50s on Oct. 16th! Get psyched!
Safety and Traffic Notes
We have called a few families this week and the phones aren't working. Please make sure your info is up to date with the office.
Reminder: Students MAY NOT record (neither video nor audio) ANYONE at ANY time at school or on the bus without express adult permission. Please make sure your children understand this rule.

Hello Duval Families!
Our second local business partnership is this week- Napoli pizza will be offering a portion of sales made on 10/7 and 10/8 when you mention Duval!
Monster Mash is under 3 weeks away and we still need help to keep all our stations up and running. This event is a great time to give a little bit of time to make a huge difference, the students love this event and it’s lot of fun!

The next event we are super excited for is our Annual Basket Raffle and Auction. This event is held on 11/21 at the Whitman VFW at 6pm. Classrooms basket collections will start soon- keep an eye out for the fun themes!
