Inclusion, kindness, and sportsmanship were on full display last Wednesday for Unity Day at the CVUSD Unified Sports Unity Games! Unified Athletes and Unified Partners from Thousand Oaks High, Westlake High, and Newbury Park High came together at Warrior Stadium for a morning of friendly competition in bocce and yard games where our students showcased teamwork, shared words of encouragement and built new friendships.

Thousand Oaks High, Newbury Park High, and Westlake High were all recently n
amed 2025 National Banner Unified Champion Schools by Special Olympics North America. This honor celebrates their commitment to inclusion by meeting ten standards of excellence. They exhibit inclusive school climates that embody a sense of collaboration, engagement and respect for all through programs like Unified Sports and whole-school engagement, and we could not be prouder.

Last week, approximately 200 CVUSD 11th and 12th grade students who are enrolled in Health & Medical Technology pathway courses at their CVUSD high school gathered at California Lutheran University for the first ever Healthcare Summit.

The event offered students a unique opportunity to learn from industry experts through a keynote address, a moderated panel on post-secondary programs, certifications, and degrees, engaging healthcare career workshops, and information tables where they connected directly with professionals in the field. The goal was to inspire and expand students' understanding of future career opportunities that match their interests, while building meaningful connections with their peers, local organizations and educational institutions.

This event was organized by the District's Career Education Coordinators in partnership with the Greater Conejo Valley Chamber of Commerce and California Lutheran University. A big thank you to the Greater Conejo Valley Chamber of Commerce and CLU for their partnership in making this event a reality!
