St Bernadette's Primary School
NEWSLETTER |WEEK 2 TERM 1 2026
I hope you’ve had a great week and that the recent change in weather has brought some welcome relief, as it certainly has for us here at school. It has been another great week as our students have got stuck into their learning!
Year 6 Camp – Parent Information Session
We were delighted to host our Year 6 Camp Parent Information session on Tuesday. It was wonderful to see so many parents engaged and asking thoughtful questions as we shared all the details about the upcoming camp. During the session, we covered important information including the camp itinerary, safety procedures, what students need to bring, and how we ensure a fun and memorable experience for everyone. Thank you to all the parents who attended and contributed to the discussion — your support helps make this experience safe and enjoyable for our students. For those who were unable to attend, all key information and forms have been sent home with students, and additional details are available through the school office. We are looking forward to an exciting camp and creating lasting memories with our Year 6 students!
Year 3–6 Swimming Trials
On Thursday, our Year 3–6 students participated in the annual Swimming Trials, demonstrating skill, determination, and fantastic sportsmanship. It was exciting to see students challenging themselves, cheering on their peers, and showing great enthusiasm in the pool. We also had an increase in participation this year which was excellent to see. We are incredibly proud of all students for their effort, courage, and positive attitude.
School Feast Day Liturgy
Today, our school community came together to celebrate our Feast Day with a beautiful liturgy in honour of St Bernadette. It was a joyful occasion filled with prayer, reflection, and song, as students, staff, and families joined in gratitude for her example of faith, humility, and perseverance. Seeing our students participate with reverence and enthusiasm reminded us all of the importance of faith, friendship, and togetherness in our school life
Year Three Leads Community Mass and Sacramental Registration
Tomorrow evening, our Year Three students will proudly lead our Community Mass. We hope families will enjoy celebrating together as a parish/school community. Sacramental registration for students will be held at the parish church this Saturday & Sunday. Families are invited to come along to register for upcoming Sacramental programs and receive all the necessary information. We look forward to supporting your child on their faith journey
Shrove Tuesday and Ash Wednesday
Next week marks the beginning of the Lenten season. On Shrove Tuesday, students will have the opportunity to enjoy some pancakes as we reflect on preparing our hearts for Lent. The following day, Ash Wednesday, we will gather for a special liturgy to receive ashes and begin our journey of prayer, fasting, and reflection. These important days help us focus on faith, gratitude, and growth as a school community.
On Wednesday we will also be holding our ACM Meeting at 4pm. This is an opportunity to celebrate 2024 and update the community on our School Improvement Goals. Everyone is welcome, however, I will also post my report in next week’s newsletter for those who can’t make it.
On Monday, Ibu Kristy and I are going to mix things up a bit before school and do some skipping out on the courts before school. We will bring a heap of different ropes out and get some fitness in before school. We will direct you where to go, however, if the students are here early, we will be on the courts, not the oval on Monday!
Finally, another quick reminder about the Blue Bays at the front of the school and near the parish. These bays are specifically for members of our community who have a valid sticker displayed on their dash. We have a few families who genuinely rely on this and find it challenging to access the school without them. Please be respectful and patient at drop off and pick-ups and ensure these are left for those who need them.
Warm regards
Geordie
Assembly Friday 20 February
The following students will be receiving Merit Awards at next week's Assembly, which starts at 8.50am in the undercover area. Family and friends are welcome to join us.
Our school is a Nut Aware & Allergy Aware environment. We have students with severe allergies, including nut and egg anaphylaxis.
To help us keep all children safe, we ask families to please be mindful when packing lunchboxes and avoid sending foods that contain nuts, nut products, or eggs. Please be especially mindful of hard boiled eggs, eggs in salads, curried eggs, meringues etc. We ask that you remind your children not to touch others after eating and that they wash their hands thoroughly.
We appreciate your support and understanding in helping us create a safe and inclusive environment for all students.
Absentees
Please remember to complete an absentee form whenever your child is away from school. This helps us keep accurate attendance records and meet reporting requirements. Notification must be in writing and can be submitted via our website - https://stbernadettes.wa.edu.au/families
Thank you for your cooperation.
Arriving late to school/leaving early
Parents are reminded that if your child arrives late to school or needs to leave early, they must please be signed in or signed out at the school office. This process ensures accurate attendance records and helps us maintain the safety and wellbeing of all students.
Updating contact details
Please check and update your contact details with the school office (phone, email, postal address, emergency contacts, and any medical information) to ensure we can reach you quickly.
Accurate contact information is essential for attendance, event notices, and emergencies. If there have been any changes, please email or come to the office.
Our student leaders will be hosting a pancake breakfast on Tuesday morning before school, 8.15 - 8.34am.
We do ask for a gold coin donation please. Alternatively, you can use the attached QR code to donate directly to Caritas. Thank you for supporting this initiative.

A reminder for our families

Orders can be placed online via the Spriggy App before 8.30am
or in person at the canteen.
In the Catholic tradition, our parish and school are closely connected.
The parish, led by Father Giovanni, provides spiritual leadership and is responsible for ensuring we nurture students’ faith alongside academic learning. The school supports the parish by helping children grow in Catholic values, preparing them for sacraments, and encouraging family participation in parish life.
It’s essentially a partnership — the parish is the faith community, and the school is one of its key ministries. For more information about our Parish, please click here:
