Blue Rapids Elementary
It's all blue skies in Blue Rapids
It has been an exciting week at Blue Rapids Elementary. Firefighters Jason Hemry and Monty Shanks visited the building and conducted a fire safety assembly. Thank you Jason and Monty for your heart for the kids and the community. We also had a visit from the Rotarians this week. The 6th grade leadership team presented to the Rotary club about their program and everything they do throughout the year. It was a great time for both the students and adults.
As Halloween approaches, I know kids are already getting excited about their costumes. Just some friendly reminders about costumes at school. In order to not impede the educational process no masks or heavy make-up. Please make sure your child's costume is school appropriate, no weapons or blood/gore. The students always dress up and make Halloween so much fun, I am excited!
As we move into the 2nd quarter of school, I just absolutely love this fall weather and the beautiful fall colors. I pray you all are able to get out and enjoy it! It won't be long, and we will be bundled up with cold weather.
Here are some upcoming dates to remember:
- 5th/6th grade field trip to the Topeka symphony October 24th
- Picture retakes October 26th
- Fall Fest October 29th
- Halloween Parade October 31

Positive Office Referrals
Value Honor Success
Each day in the elementary schools, we teach our students how to have purposeful interactions and goals. We believe that having a common purpose will promote the academic and social emotional well-being of each student. We teach students the VHS model.
To celebrate students accomplishing these things, we have created positive office referrals, with VHS tickets. Teachers and staff hand out VHS tickets when they see a student doing the right thing. Here are some pictures of students receiving their VHS tickets!
Miss Positivity!
