Hello Northridge community! We are happy to inform you that the 6th grade discovery’s bake sale was a massive success ! First, we would like to thank all of the families that donated products and visited the bake sale! We thank you for being so supportive to our efforts. We ended up raising over $1520 to donate to the American Foundation of Suicide Prevention (AFSP)! The most popular product sold was cake-pops, which we sold out of! Thank you all for joining us and helping reach our goal by outstanding amounts! We could have never imagined that we would not only reach our goal of $1000, but surpass it by over $500! Principal Letter Principal Letter

Dear Northridge Families,

Even with the short week, there was no shortage of excitement and accomplishments at NRE!

Our 6th grade Discovery students hosted an incredible bake sale to benefit the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP). They took full ownership of the event—planning, advertising, and even preparing the delicious treats, including a crowd favorite: “Dirt and Worms.” After managing an impressively long line on day one (it nearly reached the bus loop!), they regrouped, problem-solved, and came back stronger on day two. In total, they raised $1,520—an amazing contribution to an important cause. I couldn’t be prouder of their compassion, teamwork, and determination. Way to go!

I’m also excited to share that we’ve officially signed a purchase agreement to move forward with long-awaited playground repairs. Parts of the playground have been closed off far too long, and we’re thrilled to be replacing the tall spinning structure, repairing the merry-go-round so it actually spins, and restoring the ground cover. Construction is scheduled for this summer, and I know our students will be thrilled when they return to a refreshed and fully functional playground!

Looking ahead, the DCSD Art Show will take place May 2–8 at the Legacy Campus. We’re proud to have many of our students’ work featured in the exhibit (see list included above). I’m always blown away by the creativity on display in our art room, and I’m so thankful to Ms. Robertson for fostering that creativity and organizing our contributions to the show. I encourage you to visit the exhibit—it's always inspiring!

Also today, our 1st graders headed off to the Denver Zoo—and the excitement this morning was priceless. Smiles, backpacks, and animal enthusiasm filled the halls as they loaded up the buses! I got reports that they got to see the new baby giraffe named Thorn! Check out some of the pictures below.

On a personal note, Cory and I are taking advantage of the long weekend with a little getaway to Santa Fe—a new adventure for us! We booked a funky little hotel and are excited to explore the art, food, and hopefully squeeze in a hike or two.

Wishing you all a joyful and restful weekend! We will see you Tuesday!

Smiles,

Erin Lehnert
