2026-27 Hoffman Highlights
September 10th - Family Edition
📓 A Note From the Principal - Mrs. Amy Huson
It’s amazing how quickly a school begins to feel like a little community! 💜 As we move further into September, our Little Indians aren’t just learning where to go and what to do—they’re beginning to understand what it means to be part of the Doris Hoffman family.
Throughout the building, I’m seeing students making friends, helping one another, trying new things, using kind words, and becoming more independent each day. I’m also seeing those little moments when learning really clicks—a child proudly sharing something they created, recognizing a letter or sound, remembering a classroom expectation, or mastering something they couldn’t quite do the week before. Those are the moments we love to celebrate! 👣✨
At Doris Hoffman, we want our students to know that school is a place where they are safe, loved, challenged, and encouraged to grow. At this age, so much important learning happens through play, conversation, movement, relationships, and simply practicing something again and again. What may look like a “little” accomplishment to us can feel enormous to a preschooler—and every one of those accomplishments is helping build the confidence they will carry with them into the future.
Thank you for partnering with us, encouraging your child at home, and trusting us to be part of these important early years. We love watching our Little Indians Learn, Lead and Care a little more each day! 💜🤍
Here’s to another week of Little Steps and BIG Successes! 👣✨

🎪📚 What Are We Learning?
The circus fun continues next week as we finish Unit 2 of ELLC! 🎪 Students will continue enjoying Olivia Saves the Circus, Paddington at the Circus, and Put Me in the Zoo while building their vocabulary, comprehension, and early literacy skills.
We’ll continue focusing on the letter T and the /t/ sound, along with positional words such as on, in, through, around, behind, and in front. Our Little Indians will also practice circus vocabulary like lion, elephant, clown, ringmaster, trapeze, juggling, applause, popcorn, and ticket. 📚🤹
Our character learning will focus on what it means to Learn, Lead, and Care, including ways our students can be leaders and helpers in their classrooms. In the Gross Motor Room, the circus adventures continue with a Big Top Relay, where students will scooter, crawl through tunnels, jump through hoops, and work together as a team—building coordination, motor planning, turn-taking, teamwork, and leadership along the way! 🎪💜
Learning, leading, caring, and growing—one Little Step at a time! 👣💜🤍

🍳 Breakfast and Lunch Menu
A quick reminder for our families about school meals! Students enrolled in our ADA and Tuition programs receive breakfast and lunch at no additional cost, and we encourage students to enjoy the meals provided by our school each day. 🍎🥛 For students in our ECSE program, meal costs may be paid, reduced, or free based on eligibility. Families must complete the Free & Reduced Meal Application to determine whether they qualify for reduced-price or free meals. Providing this information helps ensure your child receives the appropriate meal benefits throughout the school year.

🚨Parents as Teacher Spotlight
💜 Parents as Teachers: Learning Starts at Home!
Did you know that Parents as Teachers (PAT) offers developmental screenings throughout the school year? These screenings are a great way to learn more about your child’s growth and development and can help identify both strengths and areas where a little extra support may be helpful.
Our PAT team uses the DIAL-4 developmental screening, which looks at important early childhood skills and gives families valuable information about their child’s development. Best of all, screenings are FREE! 💜 Our next screening date is Monday, September 14. If you have a younger child at home—or know a family who could benefit from a developmental screening—we’d love for you to help us spread the word!
Parents as Teachers is here to support families from the very beginning—because little steps at home can lead to big successes, too! 👣💜
