Related Arts: Fifth Grade News!
Library Update for Fifth Grade
Fifth graders have been working on a hero project collaboration with Art. We have done research and are completing our part of the work - a poster we’ll print in color. Then they’ll take the portrait of their hero to Art class to begin work there. They will all be displayed when the project is complete!
Art Update for Fifth Grade
5th Graders are hard at work on their clay mug project! This rigorous project requires students to use all of the prior clay techniques we have used throughout the years! Many students have chosen to sculpt a symmetrical face on their slab built pieces. Once the mugs are glazed and fired in the kiln a second time, students will be able to take them home! I am so proud of their hard work!
Music Update for Fifth Grade
5th graders have begun their Recorder unit! Building upon what they learned last year, we will be learning new songs, playing in 2-parts, and extending out recorder skills.
Your child will be expected to practice at home weekly. Please encourage them to do so, as it will be greatly beneficial if they decide to play an instrument in Middle and/or High School!
Butterfly Guild of Nationwide Children's Hospital's Annual Production
Blacklick music teacher, Mrs. Wolfe, will be performing again this year in the Butterfly Guild of Nationwide Children’s Hospital’s annual production! This year, the show is Beauty & The Beast! Come see Mrs. Wolfe as a “silly girl” and a dancing plate! Performances are March 1, 2, & 3 at the Palace Theater. Interested families can purchase tickets by calling (614)-469-0939 or online at LINK.
Toiletry Kits for Ronald McDonald House
Your gift of travel size toiletries allows families to stay close to their hospitalized child without having to run to a store and worry about getting simple items like deodorant, toothpaste and shampoo. Students will be putting these toiletry bags together with their buddies. Please send in all of your donations to your child’s classroom teacher by Friday, March 1st.
We are asking grade levels to bring in the following items, however, any donations are greatly appreciated.

Blacklick PRIDE Partner PTO (Parent/Teacher Organization)
The next PTO meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, March 12, 2024 in the new art room at 6:30 PM.
The Blacklick PRIDE Partner PTO has complied a list of the staff's favorite things. It is important to understand the teachers are not asking for gifts. We know that many parents might want to get their child's teacher a gift and this list is to help you select something the teacher would like. Please do not feel obligated to buy a gift for your child's teachers/staff members. A thoughtful note from you and/or your child at any time of the year is appreciated just as much or more as any gift.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Karen Davidson, PTO President, at ptoblacklick@gmail.com.
