Community Update
Hello North Rockland Families,
On Thursday morning, North Rockland High School Navy Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (NJROTC) cadets finished their annual formal inspection, assessed by a Navy Area Manager on leadership, academics, operations and appearance. Cadets were evaluated individually on general U.S. Navy knowledge and collectively through an in-place drill which demonstrated the discipline, preparation and team work that is at the heart of the program.
These same qualities are on display across North Rockland as our student-athletes compete in championship and playoff events this weekend. The varsity girls volleyball team secured a spot in the Class AAA quarterfinals against Port Chester today at 5 p.m. Meanwhile, the varsity football team is facing Scarsdale tonight in a rematch of last Friday’s battle of the Raiders, when North Rockland earned a 21-0 victory. On Sunday, the NRHS Marching Band and Color Guard will travel to Long Island for the New York State USBands Championships. Good luck, Red Raiders! For those interested, winter sports registration is open, with the NRHS season beginning November 16 and Fieldstone Middle School’s starting November 30.
Next Friday, the NRHS Drama Society will take the stage for opening night of its fall production, “Love of a Pig”! The play follows Jenny Brown, a twenty-something violinist who seems to fall for all the wrong people as she searches for love. Through Jenny’s misadventures, audiences get a glimpse into how she sees the world, where her romantic expectations and reality don’t always line up. Be sure to catch our talented student cast in action on November 6, 7, 12, 13 and 14 at 7 p.m.
Parent-teacher conferences begin next week throughout the North Rockland Central School District. As a reminder, there will be no school for students on Tuesday, November 3 to allow for daytime conferences. Individual building schedules are listed in the Parent-Teacher Conference section below.
Have a safe and happy Halloween!

College and Career Center
Our College & Career Information Session Series is beginning to wrap up! This week, we welcomed representatives from Pace University, University of Connecticut (UCONN) and New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT). Next week, we look forward to hosting Iona University on Monday and Yale University on Thursday!
November also marks the beginning of our Instant Decision Days! Throughout the month, colleges and universities will visit NRHS to meet with interested seniors, conduct brief interviews and potentially offer on-the-spot admissions decisions! Best of all, these decisions are non-binding, allowing students to celebrate an acceptance while keeping their college options open. Participating schools include SUNY New Paltz (11/4), Dominican University (11/6), Mercy University (11/10), Iona University (11/12) and St. Thomas Aquinas College (11/20). Interested seniors can stop by Room 211 for more information!
Finally, Financial Aid Season is here! The College & Career Center will host a Financial Aid 101 Information Session on Monday, November 2, from 5-6 p.m. in the NRHS Main Cafeteria. Families are invited to learn about the financial aid process, ask questions and prepare for the steps ahead. For more information and to register, click HERE. We will also offer hands-on FAFSA Workshops in November and December for families seeking additional assistance.
Principals Month
In honor of National Principals Month, we’re highlighting a few of our dedicated principals each week throughout October, sharing their educational philosophies, career journeys and the lessons they’ve learned from students along the way.

Meagan Collins
After earning a Bachelor of Arts in Law and Society from Ramapo College, Meagan Collins went on to earn a Master of Science in Teaching in Childhood and Special Education from St. Thomas Aquinas College. Her connection to North Rockland began long before her time as a teacher’s aide and teaching assistant in the Visions Program at Neary Educational Center. Meagan grew up in the NRCSD and graduated in 2015.
She is looking forward to getting to know her students and creating a classroom family. One way she’s bringing that idea to life is through a “Class Family Tree,” where students and staff can share family photos and bring a piece of home into the classroom. The project celebrates the families and backgrounds that make each student unique while creating a classroom community built on inclusion and acceptance.

Volley for Vets
This week, JV and varsity boys volleyball held their annual Volley for Vets games at North Rockland High School! The Red Raiders raise money to support veterans in need within our community. This special tradition is now in its third year and holds a special place in our hearts, as so many members of our community have served or are currently serving our country.
Varsity Fall Sports
The Winning Moments x North Rockland Athletics
In partnership with The Winning Moments, North Rockland Athletics created individual photo albums for each varsity fall sport earlier this season, giving parents access to photos of their student-athletes. Now, families can take those memories a step further with our new keepsake store, featuring personalized items such as magnets, coasters and more!
The best part? Simply double-tap your keepsake with your phone to access your student-athlete’s photo album and relive their favorite moments throughout the season. Visit the store to explore the available keepsakes and find a special way to preserve your Red Raider memories! Every purchase gives back to North Rockland Athletics and to the No Kid Hungry organization.
If you are a fall varsity sports parent and have not received a link for your child's album, please reach out to mgirandola@northrockland.org.
