Dear SMS Families,

What a September it's been! Our school year got off to a busy and exciting start. Our 6th graders took part in team-building activities, the whole building showed its Bills pride during our spirit days, and many of you joined us for Open House Night. We also had school picture day and some great modified athletic contests. The energy isn't slowing down. We’re looking forward to a lively, whole-district homecoming spirit week and our first SMS Student Council dance of the year on October 23rd from 6:30-8:00 PM. Our clubs are meeting regularly, athletic seasons are underway, and field trips are beginning. We continue to be especially proud of our Junior FFA program, which consistently draws a strong group of students who are very active in local, regional, and State competitions.

October is often when the academic workload starts to pick up. The move from summer routines back to school routines can take time, and we want every student to have the support they need. Our after-school academic help program meets every Tuesday and Thursday, and bus transportation home is provided. To reserve a bus seat, students should sign up by 10:00 AM that day on the bulletin board near Rooms 101 and 102, across from Mrs. Heichberger's and Mr. Baykal's classrooms. If you have any questions or concerns, please call the Main Office. We're always happy to help.

Go Griffins!

Modified Football Update - 9/23

The Springville Modified Football team improves to 3-0!

Although Catt/Little Valley had to forfeit due to low numbers, our Griffs were still able to get valuable work in through an unofficial scrimmage.

Springville’s offense found the end zone on numerous possessions, starting from the 40-yard line. The team showcased textbook blocking, strong execution, and impressive passing yardage.

Defensively, the Griffs once again locked down the field with solid tackling and a tremendous team effort.

Great work by all our players and coaches! This group continues to improve, compete, and find ways to get better every week.

Our next game is next Wednesday at Frontier High School, with a 5:30 PM kickoff.

Come out and cheer on our Griff’s!

Mrs. Coughlin's Middle School Health Class has a "class pet!" The stuffed, weighted sloth, Sheldon, will go home with students each weekend, and they will share his adventures on the "Sheldon's Weekend Adventure" Google Classroom. For Sheldon's first weekend adventure, Mrs. Coughlin took Sheldon to visit the new Buffalo Bills stadium, where they ran into Skyler and her family!
