Safe Routes Recognitions - More to Celebrate!
Woo hoo! We have additional schools in our district that have been awarded Safe Routes Recognition this year. Congratulations to Copper Hill Elementary School AND Reading-Fleming Intermediate School on earning Gold-Level Recognition through the New Jersey Safe Routes to School (SRTS) Program! As mentioned last month, Safe Routes is a statewide program that recognizes schools and communities for taking meaningful steps to make walking and bicycling safer, healthier, and more accessible for students. The Copper Hill Cougars and the RFIS Huskies earned this recognition by demonstrating a commitment to encouraging students and families to walk and bike to school, while promoting safe routes and active transportation within the school community. Congratulations, again, to both school communities on this well-deserved recognition!
Books on Wheels Rolls into FRSD Schools
This week, Copper Hill School and Robert Hunter School were excited to welcome the Hunterdon County Library Bookmobile! Flemington-Raritan students were very eager to explore the many books and opportunities to grow their love of literacy. The schools thank our community partners for expanding students' access to books while creating more options to read, explore, & learn!
Staff Shout Out: Another Step in Sustainability
Growing a Greener Future at Desmares
Fourth-graders at Francis A. Desmares School recently celebrated sustainability with a special tree dedication ceremony. As part of the school’s ongoing sustainability initiatives, a tulip tree, grown and donated by Learning Disabilities Teacher Consultant Tina Hernandez, was planted on school grounds. As it grows, the tree will provide shade for an outdoor learning area.
On October 2, fourth-grade classes gathered to learn more about the new tree and other ways they can help care for and protect their school environment. Students made a pledge to help preserve their school grounds and enthusiastically cheered on their teachers as they helped place soil around the tree. Assistant Principal Kristin DeLorenzo helped complete the planting by watering the tree’s roots.
Students also shared a poem and led their classmates in the school chant, bringing the celebration to a spirited close. It was a meaningful reminder that even small actions can help create a greener, more welcoming environment for everyone.
This event was made possible with the support of Mrs. DeLorenzo, ESL Teacher Yasmin Jeges, as well as members of the school's Food Waste Committee/Green Team, including Tara Maszczack, Danielle Rollero, and Alaina Gorka and through the generous donation from Ms. Hernandez.
Take a moment to view this special video capturing the celebration! We're so proud of the Mighty Dolphins!

A Note from Hunterdon Central
For Current 7th & 8th Grade Families
On Thursday, October 22, 2026 at 6:30 PM, Hunterdon Central Regional High School is hosting a Magnet Program Showcase, which will provide you with information on the academies offered through Hunterdon Central’s Magnet Program as your student starts considering their options for high school. Did you know there are currently seven academies? They are Architectural Design, Biomedical Science, Computer Science, Education, Engineering, Media & Communications, and Performing Arts - all offered at Hunterdon Central! In addition, a Business academy will be launched in 2027-2028.
The Showcase is a great opportunity to explore the academies and talk with the teachers and current academy students. Hunterdon Central’s Magnet Program offers students opportunities to pursue specialized programs that empower them to focus on a particular passion or career area - all while staying at their home high school! Each academy consists of a cohesive series of three or four courses and includes opportunities for dual enrollment or articulated college credit, an industry-valued credential, or both. Students will conclude their Hunterdon Central academy courses with a capstone-type experience, which can include an independent research project, an internship or mentorship experience, and/or an independent student experience such as a college course or a credential. Students who successfully complete an academy will earn an endorsement on their high school transcript.
You can learn more about Hunterdon Central’s Magnet Program here: https://www.hcrhs.org/academics/program-of-studies/magnet-program.
We hope you can join us on October 22nd at 6:30PM for this special event! The Showcase will be held in the Commons in the 11/12 building, which is the main building on Junction Road attached to the fieldhouse. Please enter through the main glassed entrance.
