CH Bird Family Newsletter

Message From The Principal
We've been busy at CH Bird, and we're excited to share some of the ways we're helping our Blue Jays learn, grow, and feel like they belong!
This year, we're putting an even stronger focus on building positive relationships with students and families. We want every child to feel safe, welcome, and connected to the adults and students around them.
We're also finding new ways to celebrate students! Our Bright Blue Jay Awards and Blue Jay Bravos recognize kindness, hard work, growth, and students showing the Blue Jay Way: Safe, Responsible, and Respectful. We're reminding students that their effort matters, even when things are hard.
Our teachers are also working together to look at student learning and plan lessons and extra support that meet each child's needs. We're using what we learn to make teaching stronger and help every student succeed.
We're especially excited to welcome you to CH Bird next week for fall conferences! Conferences are a chance to celebrate your child's growth, talk about their learning, and hear from you. You know your child best, and your ideas, questions, and hopes help us better support them. We want every family to feel heard, valued, and part of their child's learning team.
Thank you for being such an important part of our CH Bird community. Together, we're making CH Bird a place where every Blue Jay can learn, grow, belong, and shine!
Screen-Free Playtime: Helping Our Blue Jays Connect, Create & Play!
At CH Bird, we know that play is an important part of learning, building relationships, and developing a sense of belonging. That's why we're excited to create a Screen-Free Playtime Library for students in grades K–5!
Our goal is to provide students with engaging, hands-on activities that encourage creativity, problem-solving, cooperation, and meaningful connections with peers. From STEM challenges and building materials to board games, art, and imaginative play, these resources will help students practice important social and emotional skills while having fun together!
Materials will be shared and rotated among classrooms throughout the year, keeping playtime fresh and exciting. They'll also support social skills instruction, indoor recess, and other opportunities for students to connect and learn together.
We'd love your help bringing this vision to life! We've created an Amazon Wish List with items that will help us build this shared collection. If you're interested and able to contribute, we'd be incredibly grateful. There is absolutely no expectation to donate!

We are also accepting donations of gently used items similar to those on the list.
Thank you for helping us create more opportunities for our Blue Jays to play together, build friendships, discover new interests, and experience the joy of belonging at CH Bird!
CH Bird Fundraiser-Cassoulet
Dine Out Days with Cassoulet are next week, Oct. 20 and 21. They're open from 11-5pm both days. Hot lunch and/or a salad are served each day from 11-1:30pm. Here's the flier for more information.
Blue Jay Shuffle
Our Blue Jay Shuffle was a huge success! Thank you to everyone who helped in any way. It was great to have so many caregivers join us to help count laps and cheer on the shufflers. A big thank you to our CH Best for all the planning that goes into an event like this. Shout out to Christopher, a CH Bird parent, who was our DJ for the morning and to both the police and fire department for their participation. So far the donations total is at about $3,600. Tom's Coffee Truck also donated $110 from their sales. Donations are always welcome. You can donate via cash, check (made out to CH Best) or by Venmo (@CHBirdPTO). Thank you for your continued support!
