  • Please refer to the updated CDE document on "How Sick is Too Sick?" The Colorado Department of Public Health has revised its guidance on this topic. CDE encourages districts and communities to consult with health professionals within the district and schools to create updated guidance and communication. They should also discuss how disease prevention measures can reduce the spread of illness and enhance attendance. Available in English and Spanish versions of the CDPHE guidance.

Reports

Looking for a quick way to track attendance? Try the Attendance Register Report. The Attendance Register Report summarizes student attendance for a selected date, date range or term based on either student daily attendance or course section attendance

  • To be in compliance with State Board rule 1-CCR-301-1 statute, when you are end-dating or exiting a student for any reason, please use the last day of attendance as the end date. In reviewing district exit status reports, several schools are out of compliance and must be corrected as soon as possible.

Statewide Data

Statewide data collections on attendance provide broad measures of student engagement. This includes levels of excused and unexcused absences and allows for analysis of engagement trends over time, across grade levels, and student groups. These measures are reported at the school, district, and state levels.

One page summary - 2023-24 school year

Data spreadsheets: CDE publishes spreadsheets annually that include:

  • Statewide and districtwide summary data on rates of chronic absenteeism, truancy counts, and habitual truant counts.
  • Statewide summaries of chronic absenteeism that include disaggregation by grade level, individual student groups, and race/ethnicity.

Attendance Dashboard in collaboration with CDE

CDE has introduced a new goal-setting tool to help plan and monitor the state's aim to reduce chronic absenteeism by 50%. With this dashboard, you can view attendance data at the state, district, and school levels, adjust the goals you want to set, and track progress over the past two years. CDE hopes this dashboard will assist you in setting and tracking your own attendance goals. Resources and tools to support your work with the dashboard will be available in early 2025, but in the meantime, please feel free to explore!
