Greenwood High School Media Center

Janet Shay, Library Media Specialist

Alyssa Knight, Library Media Assistant

The library media center staff believes that the school library media center functions as a central source of all kinds of teaching and learning materials, as a service agency for its patrons, and as an agent for change. We strive to enrich all parts of the educational process, foster the love of reading, and develop information literacy skills to help students become independent and lifelong learners.

My name is Janet Shay. After graduating from Greenwood High School, I attended Lander College where I graduated with a Bachelor's degree in elementary and early childhood education with a minor in business. I later earned a Master's degree in library and information science from the University of South Carolina. Go Gamecocks! I have worked in Greenwood School District 50 in various capacities my entire career. I began working at GHS in 2017. Once an Eagle, always an Eagle!

I am married to Dale Shay, and I have 2 grown children. I also have many pets, including a Goldendoodle, a Chiweenie, 5 horses, 3 donkeys, and many cats.

In my spare time I enjoy reading, working in my yard, being on the lake or at the beach, riding horses, and spending time with family and friends.
