Time to Celebrate the Class of 2023
It is the time of the year where we pause to celebrate the effort from our graduates, families and the Meade School District Staff. The graduation ceremony culminates the path from the first day of kindergarten to the sometimes awkward transitions of middle school and finally their growth through high school. This journey has not always been easy, but with challenges comes growth in who our graduates will become.
Students who leave Sturgis Brown High School are our future workforce, neighbors, city council members, state or national leaders. In a few years, I will welcome some back as teachers or other important roles to the district as valued employees. I am sure even some of them will become school board members helping shape the direction of the Meade School District. I look forward to seeing where their paths take them with their future families.
Each of these students have accomplished so much on their own, but also were supported by family, school and community to reach graduation. The joy of this day will be seen on the students, siblings, parents, grandparents and so many more. The Class of 2023 will move from students to alumni each with their own path and journey ahead of them, but forever each shall be a SCOOPER!
📝Two SBHS Students Earn Perfect ACT and ASVAB Scores📝
Two SBHS students received perfect scores on their college entrance exams, senior, Beck Bruch on the ACT, and junior, Martin Jones on the ASVAB test.
Beck Bruch, scored a perfect 36 points on the ACT test while the national average in 2022 was 19.8. The ACT is a standardized test used for college admissions in the United States. The ACT test covers four academic skill areas: English, mathematics, reading, and scientific reasoning. It is accepted by all four-year colleges and universities in the United States as well as more than 225 universities outside of the U.S.
Martin Jones, successfully took the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) which is a multiple-aptitude battery that measures developed abilities and helps predict future academic and occupational success in the military. It is administered annually to more than one million military applicants, high school, and post-secondary students.
