Principal's Update
3/24/2026
Good Morning Memorial Families,
Looks like Tuesday is the new Monday. This is the second week in a row that I am sending this out a day late. I will try to get back on track next week. On Saturday, I had the privilege of watching the Miscoe Hill Middle School production of Matilda Jr and seeing several Memorial alumni absolutely crush it on stage. We have so much talent in our schools, and watching our kids shine on stage was a real treat for me.
We have spent the past week looking at our school reading and math data that was recently collected using our iReady benchmark assessment period. Seeing the growth that your children have made in both of those subjects has brought a smile to my face. Strong teaching and the hard work of our students is something to be celebrated. Many of our students are nearing or surpassing end of year grade level standard expectations and our school-wide growth is a source of pride. Thank you to our families for your commitment to supporting your child's education at home as well. Our success is a result of a strong community surrounding our students.
Our fourth grade student council has been working on two projects recently. The first is a recess equipment refresh for each grade. Thank you to our PTO for supporting this endeavor and purchasing all of the new equipment for our students to enjoy this spring. Our student council members will be assembling the new equipment bags this week to use starting next Monday. Additionally, the members of the council are hoping to install a buddy bench outside on the playground. The purpose of a buddy bench is to help every child to have someone to play with. If you are looking for someone to play with, you sit down on the bench and that alerts friends to come seek you out to play. The student council members would like to find an unfinished wooden bench to paint and seal. Before we begin looking for an unfinished bench, we were wondering if anyone in our community might be skilled and be able to build the bench for us. Please reach out to me at wbell@mursd.org if you are able to help us in any way.
Our calendar is relatively quiet this week, but looking ahead we have ELA MCAS for grades 3 and 4 coming up on April 7th and 9th before we head out for April vacation week in less than a month. Keep your eye on the calendar for grade-specific events including showcases of learning, in school presentations, field trips, and other end of year events.
Have a great week!
Warmly,
Wendy

Project 351 Clothing Drive
It’s spring! As you refresh your closets for the season, please consider setting aside gently used children’s clothing to donate.
Miscoe Hill's Project 351 Student Ambassadors are leading a Spring Service clothing drive to support Cradles to Crayons. They will be collecting new and gently used children’s clothing (sizes infant through adult medium) from April 1-8. They are also accepting new pajamas, underwear, and socks. Donation boxes will be available in the lobbies at Miscoe Hill, Memorial, and Clough. Thank you for supporting this meaningful effort and helping our students give back to the community. If you have any questions, please contact acorron@mursd.org.
