November 2026
Happy November!
Growing Together, Learning Together!
Hello Teach Us Families!
Happy November! As we enter the season of gratitude, we want to take a moment to thank our wonderful families, dedicated staff, and amazing clients for being part of the Teach Us community.
October was filled with excitement, creativity, and opportunities to practice important skills. From Halloween activities to everyday accomplishments, we loved watching our clients learn, grow, and build meaningful connections.
As we move into November, our focus will be on gratitude, kindness, flexibility, and building independence through engaging activities and individualized learning opportunities.
October Highlights
We had a wonderful time celebrating Halloween at our Princeton and Rutland centers!
Our clients participated in festive games, crafts, social activities, and opportunities to practice communication, cooperation, and flexibility.
These experiences provided natural opportunities to work on important skills, including:
Taking turns and sharing with peers
Following group directions and routines
Requesting help and expressing preferences
Practicing flexibility when activities change
Building friendships and social connections
Thank you to everyone who helped make our Halloween celebrations special!
November's Focus: Gratitude, Kindness & Connection
Throughout November, we will incorporate seasonal activities that encourage social-emotional development, communication, and independence.
Some of our learning opportunities will include:
- Practicing Gratitude: Identifying people, activities, and experiences we appreciate.
- Kindness and Friendship: Practicing sharing, helping others, giving compliments, and recognizing others' feelings.
- Flexibility and Problem-Solving: Learning to navigate changes in routines, unexpected situations, and different perspectives.
- Communication Skills: Expressing wants, needs, emotions, and preferences appropriately.
- Independence: Building confidence through daily routines, self-help skills, and age-appropriate responsibilities.
As always, activities will be individualized to meet each client's developmental needs and treatment goals.
Supporting Flexibility During the Holidays
The holiday season can be exciting, but changes in schedules, family gatherings, and unfamiliar activities can sometimes be challenging for children.
Here are a few strategies to support your child:
1.Prepare for Changes
Talk about upcoming activities ahead of time. Visual schedules, calendars, and simple explanations can help children understand what to expect.
2. Offer Choices
Providing choices can help children feel more comfortable and independent. For example, "Would you like to wear your blue shirt or green shirt to dinner?"
3. Practice Communication
Encourage your child to request a break, ask for help, or communicate when something feels overwhelming.
4. Maintain Familiar Routines
When possible, keep familiar routines around meals, sleep, and preferred activities.
5. Celebrate Small Successes
Remember that progress looks different for every child. Trying a new food, greeting a family member, tolerating a change, or asking for a break can all be meaningful accomplishments!
Parent tip: The goal isn't a perfect holiday experience. It's helping your child feel supported, included, and successful.
Celebrating Progress
At Teach Us, we believe every accomplishment deserves recognition!
Progress isn't always measured by big milestones. Sometimes it looks like:
A child independently asking for help
Joining a peer activity for the first time
Using a coping strategy during a difficult moment
Completing a daily routine with less assistance
Trying something new
Communicating a need instead of engaging in challenging behavior
These moments matter, and we're proud to celebrate them alongside our families.
November Reminders
Thanksgiving Holiday
Thanksgiving falls on Thursday, November 26, 2026. We will be closed this day.
Scheduling and Attendance
With holidays, school breaks, and changes in family schedules approaching, please communicate any planned absences or availability changes as early as possible.
Consistent attendance helps maintain progress, strengthen skills, and support continuity of care.
Family Involvement Makes a Difference!
Caregiver involvement is an important part of successful ABA services.
We encourage families to communicate with their BCBA about new skills, challenges at home, changes in routines, or goals they would like to address.
Parent training provides opportunities to collaborate, learn practical strategies, and support the generalization of skills across environments.
Your input helps us make treatment meaningful for your child and family!
Parent Education & Resources
At Teach Us, we believe caregiver education is an important part of helping children learn, grow, and succeed!
Families have been receiving educational resources by email covering topics such as Understanding Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), What Is ABA?, Caregiver Participation, and the ABCs of Behavior.
🍁 Coming This November:
Functions of Behavior: Understanding the reasons behind behavior and how identifying those reasons can help us respond effectively.
Data Collection: Learning how tracking behaviors and progress helps guide treatment decisions and celebrate growth.
These resources are designed to help families better understand ABA and apply helpful strategies in everyday routines.
Keep an eye on your inbox! We encourage you to review these resources and reach out to your BCBA with any questions or topics you'd like to learn more about.
A Season of Thanks
This November, we are especially grateful for the trust our families place in us each day.
We recognize the dedication, patience, and hard work that goes into supporting each child's growth, both during sessions and at home.
We are also thankful for our amazing Behavior Technicians, Registered Behavior Technicians, and BCBAs who work every day to create meaningful learning opportunities.
Thank you for being part of the Teach Us family!
Wishing everyone a wonderful November filled with kindness, connection, and moments worth celebrating
