Important Information
December Student Testing Calendar
Dear Families,
This December, students will experience a new approach to testing designed to reduce stress and create a more supportive environment.
Cypress Creek Middle School has adopted a model used successfully in other districts, focusing on comfort and organization. Each student will receive a personalized letter outlining their test dates, locations, and details.
How It Works
- On testing days, students will report to their 1st-period class.
- An announcement will call specific groups to the cafeteria (e.g., on December 2, Mr. Arroyo and Mr. Berg’s students will be called after 1st period).
- In the cafeteria, students will receive encouragement and a brief opportunity to jot down helpful ideas before testing. These notes will be discarded before entering the testing location.
Students will then move to their assigned testing area (media center, gym, or designated classrooms/offices). Each location will have an adult to check students in and guide them to their seats. If a student appears unwell or upset, they will be rescheduled for another day.
Throughout the process, an administrator will lead the group, and familiar teachers will be present to provide comfort and monitor students.
Our Goal
This approach is designed to:
- Reduce stress and chaos
- Provide encouragement and support
- Ensure students are ready to perform at their best
Thank you for partnering with us to make testing a positive experience for all students.
Lost & Found Cleanout
Families,
Our Lost & Found, located in the cafeteria, will be cleaned out after school on November 21st. Any items remaining will either be discarded or donated to charity. If you are missing an item, please check our Lost & Found by the 21st. Thank you!

Algebra Prep Academy (APA) Program
Dear Parents and Guardians,
We are excited to introduce a new support initiative for our Algebra I students: the Algebra Prep
Academy (APA). This program is designed to help students who may have missed Pre-Algebra or need additional support with foundational math skills to succeed in Algebra.
Why APA?
Some students entered Algebra I without the full benefit of a Pre-Algebra course. To bridge this gap and ensure all students are set up for success, our math team is offering dedicated time for skill-building and personalized support. These sessions are especially helpful for 7th grade Algebra students who cannot attend academic lunch due to scheduling conflicts.
Program Details:
- Morning Sessions: Monday-Thursday, 7:45-8:05 AM in Algebra I Teacher’s room
- Afternoon Sessions: Mondays & Wednesdays, 2:30-3:10 PM (Students will need a ride home)
- Please note: The CCMS NJHS also provides tutoring every Wednesday from 2:30-3:30 pm.
Focus Areas:
- Initial Focus: DreamBox, an adaptive math platform that targets individual learning needs.
- Follow-on Steps: Targeted instruction on specific math standards based on student progress.
How You Can Help:
- Encourage your child to attend APA sessions regularly.
- Reach out to your child’s math teacher if you have questions or would like to discuss your child’s progress.
We believe that with the right support, every student can thrive in Algebra. Thank you for partnering with us to make this possible!
Sunshine State Reading Challenge
CCMS is launching a Sunshine State Reading challenge starting Friday, September 5th. The Sunshine State Young Readers Award (SSYRA) program is a statewide reading motivational initiative for Florida students in grades 3 through 8, with middle school information focusing on the Grades 6-8 list for the 2025-2026 award cycle.
The list of books on the list is listed below. Each ELA teacher will have a class set of the books for students to check out to read through out the year. Students will earn incentives to encourage them to read all 15 books (see PDF below). The incentive information can be found listed below.
Volunteer Support Needed
Our Sunshine Committee continues to ask for parent volunteers to support their efforts in helping our teachers! Please see the flyer for details.

25-26 8th Grade Announcements
Attention 8th Grade Families – Mark Your Calendars!
8th grade is an exciting and memorable year filled with milestone moments and celebrations! To help you stay informed, we’ve created a 2025–2026 8th Grade Timeline that outlines everything you need to know—from state testing dates, grading periods, and breaks to important events like Gradventure, the 8th grade formal, breakfast, field day, and promotion.
To participate in these special events, students must remain on-track by:
✔ Maintaining 90% or higher attendance (no more than 18 absences)
✔ Earning passing grades in all core classes
✔ Having no more than two Level 2 referrals and zero Level 3 referrals
We are excited for a successful and unforgettable 8th grade year! Be sure to review the timeline and help your student stay on the path to celebration and success. If you have any further questions or concerns, please email 8th grade Assistant Principal, Mrs. Kayla Nieves, at knieves@pasco.k12.fl.us.

Discipline Plan/Behavior Flow Chart
Pictured is our Behavior Flowchart. The left side of the flow chart is our Classroom Discipline Plan. Per our discipline plan, teachers are to assign THREE minor infractions prior to writing an office referral with a request for behavior support (Step 4) for repetitive disruptive behaviors that do not warrant immediate office/administrative support.
For those offenses that warrant immediate office support, the right side of the flow chart outlines the steps administration, or one of the grade level discipline assistants, would follow for such incidents.
Collective Commitment Posters
Every classroom is required to post CCMS Collective Commitment poster (pictured). For continuity and consistency across each grade level, each grade level team of teachers will determine what the H.O.W.L. commitments look like for that grade level. In addition, they will have the same three minor infraction behavior intervention steps prior to Step 4: Office Referral and Request for Behavior Support.
