Head Cheetah Message
Families,
The start of the week gave us all a real taste of spring! Thanks to a couple of warm days, most of the ice and snow has melted; and our students were finally able to get back outside for recess this week. March definitely came in like a lion last week, but we’re certainly hoping that the weather is uneventful for the rest of the month.
We enjoyed meeting with so many of you last Thursday, and look forward to hosting any remaining conferences on Wednesday, March 18th.
Have a wonderful weekend,
Joey & Andrea

Mrs. Evans’s Class Learned About Chemical Reactions
In science last week, Mrs. Evans’s class explored what happens when a solid (baking soda) mixes with a liquid (vinegar). The chemical reaction creates a gas!
District-Wide Step Up Concert
On Tuesday, all four schools showcased their musical talent at the district-wide Step Up Concert. The band and chorus from each building performed a couple of songs for everyone in attendance. This year, Memorial’s grade 3 students gave a recorder performance, as well as a choir performance. This was our third graders’ first time performing for an audience, and everyone did a beautiful job!
PAWSitive Office Referrals
A PAWsitive office referral is submitted when a staff member recognizes a student who is going above and beyond to exemplify one of our three school rules - taking care of others, taking care of self, & taking care of things.
Spotlighting Cheetah Council Members
Cheetah Council Member of the Week
Meet Kody.
His teacher is Mrs. Haydu.
He is special because he is good at school.
Soccer is one of his favorite things.
He wanted to be on Cheetah Council because it is good for you.
He loves math best at school.
Congratulations to Employee Of The Month, Sue Freeman
Sue Freeman, Prek-12 Physical Therapist for EHPS, has been recognized as this month’s Employee Of The Month! Sue consistently goes above and beyond at Memorial School to support her students and colleagues. She demonstrates exceptional dedication to our students by planning Unified Sports events that build skills, while fostering inclusion and teamwork. These events have included field trips to rock climbing gyms and bowling alleys, as well as in-school tournaments, like the winter Olympics. Sue has a positive influence on our entire school community! Thanks for all you do, Sue!
Order of the Cheetah
Congratulations to Mr. Porter for earning this week’s Order Of The Cheetah! Mr. Porter is a paraeducator at Memorial who goes out of his way to make connections with students. He is incredibly flexible and willing to accommodate schedules that are constantly evolving and changing. Memorial School is lucky to have someone with such a positive outlook working with our learners every day.

Hi Cheetah families!
Thank you so much for all of the support that the Spring Scholastic Book Fair received!
See below for grade level classroom expectations.
PreK students are enjoying a variety of read alouds and songs with the themes of spring and Saint Patrick’s Day.
Grades K-3 will be spending several weeks reading through our 16 March Madness titles and voting on their favorites. We are very excited to find out Memorial School’s book of the year in the coming weeks!
In addition:
Kindergarten has worked on predicting and making inferences while reading the books, Sneezy the Snowman. We also recently read several ABC themed books while working on putting letters and words into ABC order to build our library skills.
First, second, and third grade has finished up their coding unit. We are sad to say goodbye to Code Monkey until next year, but will be periodically using other tools to practice our computational skills. As we wrap up March Madness we will be reviewing some library skills and digital citizenship concepts.
In the photos below, students make connections with our March Madness books through a variety of exploration stations.
