Message from Principal David Ewers
North Community,
We had a busy week at the Brickhouse last week, with Freshmen taking the Pre-ACT, and the Hispanic Heritage Program all taking place in the same week. This forced us to run some unique schedules, but we appreciate our students adjusting well. We are looking forward to a solid week, with a consistent schedule before next week’s four day week.
Schedule this week
We will run a typical bell schedule this week. Students will see all classes on Monday, even blocks on Tuesday and Thursday, and odd blocks on Wednesday and Friday.
Halloween
Halloween falls on a Friday this year. We appreciate students’ desire to celebrate the holiday, but ask that any costume worn to school is school-appropriate. We also have to be able to identify our students, so a costume cannot prohibit that.
School Events
We are looking forward to a great week! We have multiple events happening this week, and our students would love your support! A comprehensive schedule of our events can be found here.
Let’s have a great week! Go Bison! WE ARE NORTH!!!
Staff Member of the Week

She is currently enrolled in 2 orchestra and 2 choir classes, and has participated in our band program as well. Outside of school, she participates in multiple symphonies and works at KC Strings.”
Heart of North- Our award winner this week is Kaeden Hollister. His nominator said Kaeden was my student last year in French 1. Even though he is not taking French this year he has been BLESSING ME with kindness by providing baked goods from his 1st hour Focus on Foods class. He just brought me biscuits and gravy. GIVE THIS MAN AN AWARD!
I am North- Our award winner this week is Kaitlyn Lockard. Her nominator said "Kaitlyn was on a call with tech support for approximately two hours regarding our lights in the Little Theater. She had to run all around our department and interact with equipment that was completely new to her. She was eventually able to fix our issue and we now have stage lights for our upcoming productions. She did it all with a smile on her face. Great kid!"

Late Start Thursdays
If you have a student that comes to North early on late start Thursdays, we are advising you to have a conversation with them about going (or not going) to the nearby QuickTrip and Target. Both business’ have reached out to our resource officers and administrators notifying us that they are seeing an abundance of shoplifting by SMN students on Thursday mornings. The business’ informed us that they will begin to charge students for shoplifting from now on. Be advised and please inform your student that if they walk over to QuickTrip (or Target) on late start Thursday’s that they need to purchase any items that they desire.
Thank you. -SMN Administration and Resource Officers
Notes from the Nurse
We will be completing the yearly vision screenings on October 27.
Our 10th graders will have their vision screened by our community partners the Lions club.
If you do not want your students screened you must contact Nurse Kelly prior to that date.
Results will be shared with parents if your student does not pass the screening.
Thank you again, for sharing your students with us!

“Attendance Calls – What You Need to Know
Getting automated calls about your student’s absence, even after reporting it? Here’s why.
Once a student reaches 10 absences, any absence moving forward will be marked unexcused and will result in an automated call unless documentation is provided.
We send two calls daily: one in the late morning and one in the afternoon. If a call is missed, it may be repeated.
You may receive a call if your student:
• Misses one or more periods
• Misses over half a class period
• Misses a full day that is considered unexcused
To excuse your student, please call the Attendance Hotline: 913-993-6945
