Bronco Nation Update

Our campus numbers are increasing. We are currently serving 2478 students at Legacy. In addition to housing more students than last year, more of our students are eating school lunch than in the past.

Our campus administration has worked together with teachers to balance the numbers of students in each lunch period. Our largest lunch periods are A and D lunch.

Tuesday 8/31, we moved a few classes from A lunch to C lunch in order to alleviate the number of students being served in lunch lines during A lunch. These changes will be seen when we return to school on Tuesday 9/7.

In addition to our campus shifts, the MISD Student Nutrition Office has hired 6 more lunch crew team member to serve breakfast & lunch to students during the school day. This will help us open up our 5th lunch line for students. This will help to decrease line length and wait times.

We will do all that we can every day to ensure that our students are able to eat a healthy lunch and return to class on time. Thank you for hanging in here with us as we maneuver through our growing pains.

To my freshman parents - Things do work out. Things will get better. Thank you for believing in us and sticking through this intense first few weeks of school.

As we move into the second half of the 1st six weeks, we understand that parents and students may have questions about grades, processes, etc. We encourage you to reach out to your student's teacher immediately if you have questions about classroom level activities - grading, classroom procedures, curriculum, re-testing failed exams or student work due dates.

If you have a campus level question about anything (absences, VOEs, 504 meetings, etc.), please contact your student's AP. The assistant principal (AP) will listen to your concern and help you find a workable solution or put you in contact with a person that can solve your problem.

With all concerns, please give the campus a chance to resolve your concern before contacting district personnel outside of the campus building. We want to partner with you to find resolution to your concern. We want all students to be successful. We are all working towards the same goal for every student - graduation.

The Legacy Counseling office wants to remind everyone that September is National Suicide Prevention Month. Next week is National Suicide Prevention Week, and more specifically World Suicide Prevention Day is next Friday September 10th.

Yellow is the color for suicide prevention, so we are asking all Legacy students and faculty to wear yellow on Friday, September 10th to help spread awareness.

Students in grades 3-12 are eligible to purchase optional device insurance to cover 1:1

devices. Enrollment begins 8/23 and will end on 9/17. With Chromebook coverage as

Keep in mind, as stated on page 11 of the Student Device Handbook, parents/guardians

are responsible for the reasonable cost to repair or replace a 1:1 device that has been

broken, lost or stolen. Optional insurance may assist with off-setting these costs should

your student’s 1:1 device become broken, lost or stolen.
