One of our Kindergarten teachers, Mrs. Heier, is proud to share that her daughter, Gracie, did a book drive for her senior project. She collected and donated over 70 books to Cooper Elementary to honor the memory of Faith Weller. All of the books are centered around social and emotional learning and acceptance.
Here is a picture of her with Mrs. Heir's class and a few 4th graders holding some of the books. What a thoughtful senior project! Thank you, Gracie!

Cooper Families,
We have been loving the warmer weather! Please send extra clothes with your child in the event they get muddy or wet at recess with the spring weather we are enjoying.
Our summer school enrollment is also open! We would love to see as many of our students as possible attend summer school. For the summer, the teachers work hard to make it fun and exciting for students with themed weeks and fun experiences. If you have any questions regarding summer school, please feel free to contact me.
Finally, a reminder that we will also not have school Friday and Monday. I hope everyone is able to enjoy the long weekend!

April is Child Abuse Prevention Month
April's Child Abuse Prevention Month is Transforming to Family Strengthening Month
Every child deserves to grow up in a safe, stable, and nurturing environment. Please join us in promoting the safety and wellbeing of Wisconsin children. Here is a link to Five for Families - a strength based approach to helping families. While every family has challenges, they also have strengths that they can draw upon during difficult times. Understanding how to build upon your family’s strengths in five essential areas can help you feel more confident, less stressed and better connected to your children.
Prevent Child Abuse Wisconsin is a Program of Children's Wisconsin
Children are the foundation of our society, our community and our future. Children raised in loving and supportive environments are more likely to prosper academically and financially, becoming successful contributing members of society. Research has shown the most effective way to prevent child abuse and neglect is to provide support to families so children can grow up in an environment that supports their wellbeing. Preventing child abuse and neglect results in better childhoods, ultimately saving millions of dollars currently needed for the services that address the short and long-term effects of abuse on children, their families, and our communities.

Our Spring Scholastic BOGO Book Fair is just around the corner, and we need volunteers to help! Book Fair will be held Monday, May 19th through Friday, May 23rd in the Science Lab. If we get enough volunteers, we will try to keep the fair open a couple of evenings for families to come in and shop with their students (no students will be allowed to shop after school without a grown-up). Please click the link and see if you can help bring the Book Joy at the Spring BOGO Book Fair!
Remember if you are volunteering during the school day, you need to have a valid background check on file. If you are volunteering after school, you do not need the background check. Links for the background check can be found here.
