Gold Rush Elementary
Principal's Message - March 15, 2024
“Foster Growth by Challenging Critical Thinkers to Take Risks,
Honor Differences & Care for Others”
GOLD RUSH IS LUCKY
Gold Rush is lucky for so many reasons. We appreciate our hard working students, dedicated staff and supportive parent community. This week the Student Council gave each staff member a note of appreciation and small ducks. Students explained why they were “lucky duckies” to have each staff member at our school. Students’ notes were personalized, thoughtful and touching. We thank Student Council for their ongoing leadership and kindness.
Students in several classrooms also took this week to reflect on what they can do, who they are and what they have. Students identified their friends, family, teachers and pets as meaningful things in their lives. Classes also shared what they love most about their classrooms and peers.
CLASS PLACEMENT PROCESS
We know that creating a positive, collaborative learning environment is essential to all students’ success. Creating balanced classes that meet the needs of all students is a difficult endeavor. This process involves hours of thoughtful dialogue between classroom teachers, administrators and other staff members. The school takes this responsibility seriously and takes each child into consideration.
We value parent input and welcome any insight you wish to share about your child’s strengths, needs and learning style. We will take into consideration all pertinent information that you share with the principal on or before Friday, April 19. While we welcome your input, we cannot honor specific teacher requests. Please share your thoughts on this google doc. Please make sure you communicate your thoughts via the google doc so we can track your input and refer back to it throughout the process.
STATE TEST SCHEDULE FOR GRADES 3-5
All students in grades 3-5 are required by the state of Colorado to take an assessment called the Colorado Measures of Academic Success (CMAS). This assessment measures students' achievement and growth in the areas of English Language Arts and Math. Fifth grade students are also assessed in the area of Science. Click here for additional information.
Please see our testing schedule above for specific assessment days and times. We ask that you do not schedule outside appointments during the identified testing window.
Thank you for your cooperation.
THANK YOU PTO & PARENT VOLUNTEERS
Thank you parents for attending our Spring Conferences! We appreciate the opportunity to celebrate your child's many accomplishments and his/her next steps. We are so proud of students' growth and achievement. We thank our PTO for the meals and snacks throughout the week! They were delicious and truly appreciated by all!
The spring book fair was also a tremendous success thanks to librarian Mrs. Golish and our parent volunteers. Gold Rush sold over $12,000 in books! This favorite event would not be possible without our parent volunteers. We hope you enjoy your new stories over the break!
