The Lemon Crest ROAR
*Friday, September 19, 2025*
A Message from Principal Price
Dear Lemon Crest Families,
Thank you, Lions, for an awesome first five weeks of school! One of our big goals this year is to celebrate WAY more positive office referrals than major behavior referrals—and we’re off to a great start. Our Lions are showing ROAR, keeping hands to themselves, and making safe, respectful choices. We’re also helping students recognize their Zone of Regulation—because the Green Zone is where we do our best learning! A special shout-out to Ms. Taft’s, Ms. Kotas’, and Mrs. Anderson’s classes for earning a popcorn–glow stick–movie party with me this afternoon for having zero office referrals so far. Families, thank you for continuing to partner with us in encouraging safe, respectful, and positive choices at school!
We’re also working hard to beautify our campus! A clean, welcoming school shows pride in our community. This week we celebrated the completion of our new Lion mural in the lunch court—you can spot it by the big gate between the office and MPR. Next up: proposals for a school garden, a Peace Path, and a large painted mural. Our campus is looking better every day, and I can’t wait to see it continue to grow!
Looking ahead, Lemon Crest will be in the Spotlight at the Lakeside Union School Board meeting on Thursday, October 9 at 5:00 p.m. at the District Office. I’ll be sharing our school’s highlights and goals, and every grade will contribute art or writing to show how they are “planting possibilities.” Families, you are warmly invited to join us! I’ll also need some students to help lead the pledge and our Lions ROAR—if your child is interested, please email me at jprice@lsusd.net .
There is a Minimum Day for students on Friday, September 26, 2025 for Staff Professional Development! Minimum Days are different than our weekly Early Release Wednesdays. On Minimum Days, students are dismissed as follows:
11:10am TK & Kindergarten Dismissal
11:30am 1st-5th grade Dismissal
Take care,
Jen Price

Contacting Teachers & Principal Price
If you have a question or concern about your child, we encourage you to speak with your child's teacher first. Please note that during the instructional day, teachers and staff may not be able to respond to your message, email or call since they are busy doing what they do best: teaching! Your child's teacher will respond to you when they are able. Thank you for understanding!
Contacting Principal Price:
Email: jprice@lsusd.net
Call the Front Office: (619) 390-2527 - The front office staff will take a message, and Principal Price will call you when she is available
In-Person: Call the office so Mrs. Whitehurst or Ms. Madina can help us set up a meeting so I can dedicate time to you!
Many of your questions may be answered in our Lemon Crest Family Handbook A-Z . We ask that all families read this.
Please know that there is a 24-48 hour "grace period" in my response time. When I respond, call or meet with you, I need time to get informed in order to have possible answers to your questions. I am prioritizing getting to know our students so I can support their success and am often not readily available in the office. Thank you for your understanding and support.
Theme for the Year: Planting Possibility
This year, our school's theme is Planting Possibility, inspired by the children's book, Curious Garden, written by Peter Brown. Click the link below for a read-aloud of the book by Principal Price!
