Welcome Back, Parker Family!
I hope each of you enjoyed a restful and joyful Thanksgiving break. I am excited to welcome our students and staff back on campus tomorrow as we begin a focused 15-day stretch leading into Winter Break.
These next three weeks are incredibly important for our campus. As we return, we are entering a window of strong, purpose-driven instruction that will set our students up for success on the Middle of the Year (MOY) assessments when we come back in January. Every day matters, every lesson counts, and every moment of learning pushes our students closer to their goals.
To our teachers and staff: thank you for your continued commitment to excellence. I know you will return ready to set the tone, maintain high expectations, and provide the engaging, rigorous instruction our students deserve -- on DAY ONE. Let’s be intentional, consistent, and united in the work.
To our students: we are proud of the growth you have shown so far this year. Now it’s time to refocus, give your best effort, and finish this stretch strong. Remember—being Parker PROUD means being Prepared, Respectful, On Task, United, and Determined every day.
Let’s show what Parker is made of as we close out the first semester.
We’ve got 15 days—let’s make every one of them powerful!!

Congrats November Lion's of the Month🦁
Congratulations to November's Lions of the Month! Students will hear their name LOUD AND PROUD in Monday morning's announcements. They don't know they've won yet, so please keep it a secret until then! If you are the proud parent of one of these students, you are invited to join us to hear the morning announcements at 7:30!
After announcements, your child will receive a goody bag and Lions of the Month t-shirt (designed by two of our very own students!). Please send your child to school on Tuesday in this shirt.
IF YOUR CHILD HAS EVER WON LIONS OF THE MONTH, PLESE SEND THEM TO SCHOOL TUESDAY IN THEIR SHIRT! We are all going to wear them to honor November's winners!
Congratulations, parents! For the whole month of November, your child's poster will be featured on our bulletin board. At the end of the month, I will send it home, so you can show it off to everyone!

DECEMBER SPIRIT DAYS 🎿🎁🔔
Parent Education Workshop in Spanish
Join us Tuesday, December 9th at 8:30 in the cafeteria. Jeanette Mueller, our PTO president and former bilingual teacher, will be here hosting a Parent Education workshop in Spanish. She will be sharing easy ways to help your child practice oral language skills in Spanish and English.
Learn simple activities you can do anywhere to build your child’s vocabulary, confidence, and communication skills. Whether your child is in a bilingual now or previously, this workshop will give you practical tools to support their language growth in everyday moments. We’ll also be serving breakfast tacos, handing out resources, and raffling prizes.
We hope to see you there!

The Threads of Gold Gallery Night was full of art and fun! Ten Parker students were selected as featured artists. This event is a partnership between HISD Fine Arts, the Asia Society, and the Faris Foundation. This was our first year participating, but it won’t be our last!

🌟December Character Education Theme: Being a Good Citizen
Being a good citizen means helping others, taking care of our community, and working together.
Examples of good citizenship are our wonderful PTO volunteers that make our school so special. They are always finding ways to make our school a better place. An example of one of the projects that has created a huge impact this year was refurbishing the teachers’ lounge. Teachers now have a calming clean space where they can relax on their break.
Ms. Elizabeth Wingfield decided to make it even more special. She has been providing beautiful bouquets for our teacher’s lounge that embellish and make our teachers smile every week.
Another example of how our actions create a great impact are our 5th graders, Ms. Quiocho and PTO parent garden volunteers. Thanks to them, we get to enjoy a nice clean picnic area courtyard as well as potted new vegetable beds.
5th graders this month volunteered at the Food Bank packing 9,710 meals that day for families in need.
Ms. Olivares has been working hard on our Food Drive. Thanks to her efforts and all the wonderful parents and families donating food items at Parker, we have together been able to help many families in need.
These were all big examples, but small actions matter too. Make it a point this month to look around and find a way to be a helper every day. Picking up trash, keeping the restroom clean, holding a door, helping a classmate, adopting a child at our Angel Tree, donating food and thanking someone are examples of small actions that we can do to create a great impact in our school and our community.

PTO & PARKER FRIENDS UPDATES
🎉We are thrilled to share some big news! After several years of working to bring this project to life, PTO is excited to announce that the Kinder playground extension is officially complete. This improvement was made possible through past APEX funds, and we are so happy to see it finally finished.
A special shoutout goes to Michael Hsu, former PTO board member, for helping make this happen.
Kindergarten students now have more space to play, explore, and enjoy every day. What a great way to kick off the cooler weather outside!
🛍PTO has a week-long spirit event coming up with Tomfoolery Toys and Books. It runs from December 1 through December 7. All the local schools are participating this week, so please remember to mention Parker PTO when you check out.
🎶It's concert season. Our volunteers will be working hard on Monday and Tuesday to complete all performance shirt orders. If you ordered before November 1 and have not received your items, please email magnetvp@parkerpto.org as soon as possible. If we do not hear from you, we will assume your order has been filled.
🏫With concerts and holiday events in full swing, PTO is canceling the December PTO meeting. Do not worry, PTO free dress is still happening on December 18.
