Our hope is that our 9th grade students will attend the meetings as well.
10th Grade families will sign up for one meeting with their student's team. If the meeting is virtual, it will be with two of the team teachers who will have information from the other two team teachers. Please only sign up for one meeting with the team. If you are coming to an in-person meeting, the meeting will be held in classrooms on the second floor. Our hope is that our 10th grade students will attend the meetings as well.
11th and 12th Grade families will sign up for meetings with individual teachers. Please note that teachers who teach 9th and 10th grade students AND 11th and 12th students may have limited slots due to their team conferences.

U-32 Community Cookbook
A special community cookbook was created through a rich collaboration of high school literacy classes and the library. Grounded with the enduring understanding that recipes from home often have a story, and that connections are deepened with others when we break bread together, students and teachers brought in special recipes from home and wrote about the stories behind them, creating and publishing a cookbook, and celebrating together in a special Callback with recipes made from the book.
The cookbook was added to the library’s collection and can be viewed online via http://lnkiy.in/Cookbook.

Stage 32 Press Release: Unspoken Word
Press Release
Unspoken Word
Join us for an enchanting evening as Stage 32, U-32 High School's award-winning Theater program, proudly presents Unspoken Word. This original on-act play, written by director of theater and playwright Erin Galligan-Baldwin, along with U-32 junior Calister Boyd, features writing and poetry contributed by members of Stage 32.
Unspoken Word tells the story of Piper, a 10th-grade student grappling with bullying and harassment following her parents' divorce and a move to a new school. To guide Piper through her challenges and facilitate a transformative journey, a magical visitor from the past emerges – none other than the pioneering 17th-century scientist and illustrator, Maria Sybilla Merian. Renowned for being the first to observe and document metamorphosis, Maria Sybilla Merian's story intertwines seamlessly with Piper's, creating a captivating experience for all.
Running less than an hour, Unspoken Word is a family-friendly production that promises to captivate hearts and minds alike. Join us for public performances on March 14 and March 29 at 7:00 PM in the U-32 Middle and High School Theater. Admission is by donation, making this accessible to all. For more details, please contact Erin at egalliganbaldwin@u32.org.
Model UN visits BOSMUN
On February 2nd-4th, U-32’s Model U.N. Club traveled to Boston for the annual BOSMUN (Boston University Model United Nations) conference. Over 2,000 students from all over New England, the East Coast, and even Brazil, came to Boston to role-play the jobs of United Nations delegations.
During the weekend, the students were divided into different committees, all tackling different global issues. The students debated, made speeches, and collaborated with each other to write resolutions representing their countries’ interests. “It’s a really cool experience to be able to meet and talk to so many new people, and try to solve problems that are actually an issue in the world today,” said Tucker O’Brien, who was in the Conference of the Parties committee.
There were also specialized committees for the more experienced delegates. Joah Byers was a part of the Press Corps committee representing the South African newspaper, The Cape Times. She said, “[we] spent the day conducting interviews with delegates from different committees.” Specialized committees give the delegates more freedom to take the conference in any direction they want. Annabelle Morland was a part of a crisis committee. She said, “I really loved Crisis because it was a lot more creative and less constrained than other committees.” Joah added, “It was an incredible weekend, with many new skills learned and friends made. It was amazing to be a part of such a memorable Model UN conference.”
Overall, the weekend was a success. “It was somehow diplomatic and professional without being boring or stuffy,” said Angus Whitman, “This past MUN conference was my first ever, and it’s definitely not going to be my last.”

SELECTIVE SERVICE
Did you know it is federal law that all young men need to register with the Selective Service System when they turn 18. Good news - it takes about 2 minutes go to https://www.sss.gov/Registration/Register-Now/Registration-Form
Failure to register can present significant roadblocks to a young man’s future opportunities. This is critically important because registration is linked to numerous federal and state benefits that can help bring funds into communities. These include access to all federal student loans and grants, job training programs, and eligibility for hundreds of thousands of federal jobs, including the U.S. Postal Service, and numerous state, municipal, and federal contractor jobs. Additionally, immigrant men who wish to become citizens will have the process significantly delayed if they don’t register.
Remember to register prior to your 18th birthday!
