Rucker Elementary
October 19-23
Hi First Grade Families!
We missed our students over the long weekend and hope everyone had a restful break! We are excited to be back together and are getting right back into the swing of things. We are so proud of the growth our students continue to make and are looking forward to another great week of learning!
In math, we are focusing on problem-solving through addition and subtraction. Students are learning how to make sense of word problems, determine which operation to use, and explain their thinking.
In social studies, we are continuing to work on our landform projects! Students are learning about different landforms and using what they know to create their projects.
We are also building our reading skills by exploring ** nonfiction text features**, such as headings, captions, labels, and diagrams, and learning how these features help us find information and better understand what we read.
We are still in need of classroom snacks and expo markers for our students. If you are able to donate individually packaged snacks, we would greatly appreciate your support!
As the weather continues to cool down, please remember to label your child’s jacket or sweater with their first and last name. This helps us make sure their belongings find their way back home!
Thank you for your continued support and partnership. We love spending our days learning and growing with your children and are excited for all the wonderful things we have planned!
Love,
The First Grade Team
