Sofia Alberts - 3rd Grade

Tell us about your family.

My husband Jon and I have been together for almost 9 years. We celebrated our 3rd wedding anniversary in June. We grew up locally, both attending Huntley schools, and still live in the area in Lake in the Hills. We are dog parents to our mini black Lab, Captain. He is definitely spoiled as the baby of our house!

What is something that makes you really proud?

I am always so proud of my students! I love watching them grow and how much they change from the beginning of the year until the end!

What is your favorite hobby?

My favorite hobby is reading. I love getting into a really good book and being sad when it ends! I also teach Irish Step dance outside of school. I grew up Irish dancing, and I really enjoy sharing my passion with younger dancers.

What is your favorite food?

I love Mexican food, but will never turn down a sweet treat!!

What is something you have learned lately?

I am currently working on my master's degree in reading, so I am learning new teaching strategies and tools all the time!

If you were an animal, what would you be and why?

If I were an animal, I think I’d be an elephant. They’re known for their empathy, strong social bonds, and gentle leadership. I really value connection with others and try my best to approach people with kindness and understanding.

What is your favorite thing about PG?

My favorite thing about PG is definitely being a part of the third grade team! I can confidently say they are some of my greatest friends, the best educators, and all around great people. I also love our small community and the fact that I have developed some great relationships with PG families and students. Getting visits and hugs from previous students fills my bucket!

Hannah Rusin- 5th Grade

Tell us about your family.

My family growing up consisted of my mom, dad, and younger brother. In addition to them I am a dog mom to a four year old boxer named Nimah. My boyfriend, Daniel, is a marine so he moves around often! He currently is living in San Diego, California!

What is something that makes you really proud?

I am proud of both my current and previous students! I love when past students come back to visit and update me on the things they have going on in their lives!

What is your favorite hobby?

If I were to narrow it down my two favorite hobbies would be reading and yoga!

What is your favorite food?

Tacos or pasta for sure!!

What is something you have learned lately?

I have learned a lot about personal growth and that it is important to ask questions and ask for help when you need it!

If you were an animal, what would you be and why?

I would be a dog because they are loyal and you can always count on them!

What is your favorite thing about PG?

I love the community and family vibe at Prairie Grove! Everyone is so supportive and caring of one another!
