LEWIS ELEMENTARY NEWS
October 22nd
"DID YOU KNOW?"
EVERY SCHOOL DAY COUNTS. “Did you know?” In 2024-25, 50% of Lewis students who didn’t reach grade level expectations on state tests missed more than 14 days of school. We are really hoping to change that statistic this year.

TAG Update
This month our 1st and 2nd graders will be taking the Naglieri Nonverbal Assessment. This is a universal screener that the TAG department uses to help us identify students who might need to be referred for TAG services. The Naglieri Nonverbal Ability Test (NNAT) is a nonverbal assessment of general reasoning and problem-solving skills that uses geometric shapes and designs instead of language, making it accessible to diverse populations, including English language learners. It consists of questions in four categories—Pattern Completion, Reasoning by Analogy, Serial Reasoning, and Spatial Visualization. For assessment dates, please check with your classroom teacher.
The TAG Referral window opened on Sept 15th. New state laws require that school districts receive TAG referrals throughout the school year. You can refer your student for TAG on the PPS TAG website. The TAG Evaluation process is estimated to take approximately 8 weeks. Detailed information on the TAG Evaluation process can be found on the PPS TAG Website. For questions about TAG, please contact Lisa Tegethoff, ltegethoff@pps.net or the PPS TAG Department at ppstag@pps.net.
