Meet the Teacher is Tonight!
Meet the Teacher is tonight, and we hope to see all of our families in the building! The school will be open between the hours of 5:30-7 pm for your family to:
- Receive elementary teacher assignments and middle school schedules.
- Meet both classroom and specials/electives teachers.
- Drop off school supplies in your homeroom classroom.
- Drop off medications and medical paperwork with the nurse.
- Speak with the student support team.
- Explore the building and new addition to see all of the exciting updates!
- Ask questions!
Elementary (K-5) families - Please enter through the back door that faces the parking lot to receive teacher assignments and then proceed to classrooms.
Middle school (6-8) families - Please enter through the Broadway door (the old main entrance) to receive your middle school schedules and head up to classrooms.
Families with both elementary & middle schoolers - If you are not able to split up, your entire family may enter through the back parking lot door to receive your elementary teacher assignments, then collect your middle schooler's schedule on the 3rd floor.
Important Drop-Off & Pick-Up Procedure Information
We will NOT be using DashPass this year.
Please be aware of our updated drop-off and pick-up procedures, highlighted below:
Drop-Off
- Students enrolled in before-school care must be dropped off between 7:15-7:30 am. Please park and walk your child in. Parent must sign in students upon arrival.
- Arrival for students who are not enrolled in before-school care begins at 7:50 am.
- Car riders need to use the carline to keep traffic moving around our campus. Carline users should get in the drop-off line no earlier than 7:40 am. Please enter from Central Street, turn into our parking lot, and proceed to the first cone located on the Armour side of the campus. Please stay in your car, as staff will be available to open car doors. After dropping off students, cars should exit the parking lot by turning right onto Armour towards Broadway Blvd.
- Walkers should enter the building using the Broadway gate (the old main entrance).
- All students are able to pick up their free breakfast if they arrive before 8 am.
- Any students arriving after 8 am must be walked in and signed in by an adult.
Pick-Up
- Dismissal begins at 3:30 pm.
- The carline uses the same route as drop-off. Your child will be waiting for you as you pull up to the back door, and staff will be available to assist in opening car doors.
- If you are picking up a walker, please legally park on surrounding streets and meet our staff at the Broadway door (the old main entrance) to pick up your child.
- Pick-up for non-Camp Fire students ends at 3:45 pm.
- If picking up your child from Camp Fire, please come to the new main entrance to sign your child out. Allow 5-7 minutes for your child to gather their items and meet you in the lobby.
As our new students and staff get used to this process the first few days, please expect dismissal to wrap up around 4 pm. We will improve each day and get the whole process down to 15 minutes in a week or so. Thank you for your patience as we work to keep your children safe!
First Day of School - Wednesday, August 12th
School begins this Wednesday, August 12th at 8 am! Please plan to drop off your child on time am so that they can get settled in their classrooms before school starts at 8 am. Parents and guardians of kindergarten students are welcome to walk their children to their classrooms on the first day, but caregivers must leave by 8:10 am so that we can begin our school day. Please see below for important information regarding drop-off and pick-up procedures.
If you have missed any of the previous Wolf Pack Weekly newsletters, please be sure to review them prior to the first day of school for important information. If you have additional questions, please review the Family Dashboard or ask them at Meet the Teacher tonight. Any remaining questions can be directed to your child's teacher(s), email info@midtowncommunityschool.org, or call the front desk at 816-499-8000.
Before-School Care Registration
If you haven't yet registered for before-school care but hope to drop your children off between 7:15-7:30 am, please fill out the form below today! A waitlist will be maintained as we reach capacity. More information can be found in last week's newsletter.
Breakfast & Lunch Are Now Free for All Students!
We want to make sure that all of our families have seen the recent exciting news regarding school meals for the 2026-2027 school year - Midtown Community School is now a CEP (Community Eligibility Provision) school, which means all students attending the Broadway K-8 building this year, regardless of household income, will receive breakfast and lunch for free! As a result, we will not be collecting Free & Reduced Lunch forms this year for meal purposes.
Before-care students may pick up breakfast when they arrive between 7:15-7:30 am. All other students are also welcome to pick up breakfast when they arrive between 7:50-8:00 am, but breakfast will not be served after 8 am, so please make sure your student arrives on time if you'd like for them to get school breakfast.
This official letter provides more information, and you can reach out to Mr. Blake Smith, Food Services Manager, with any questions.
Infinite Campus Contact Updates
We have performed our annual contact preference update, and all parents and guardians should now be receiving all emails and occasional voice messages if their contact info is correct in Infinite Campus. This is important to ensure that all families are kept aware of not only weekly schoolwide announcements, but also emergency messages and inclement weather alerts.
Please note that Infinite does not allow schools to automatically opt-in everyone for text messages. If you would like to receive text messages from the school, you will need to manually update your preferences within your Parent Portal.
If you would like to update your contact info or preferences:
- Log into your Parent Portal
- Click on the person icon in the top right
- Go into Settings
- Click on Contact Preferences
- Adjust your phone number, email address, and contact preferences
If you have any issues logging into your Parent Portal, please email Ms. Kidd!
