WINTER PARTIES

Parents,

Please connect directly with your child’s teacher to determine whether any items are needed for the winter classroom celebration. We want to be mindful of families’ time and resources and avoid overspending or having an excess of food that cannot be used.

Your child’s teacher will be sending home specific guidance regarding what, if anything, you may send or do to support the winter party.

Please remember:

  • All snacks must be store-bought, unopened, and in their original packaging.

  • December 19 is a half day, so celebrations will be brief and fast-paced.

  • Any party items (including food, pizza, etc.) must be delivered or dropped off by 11:00 a.m.

  • When possible, it is best to send items with your child prior to Thursday, December 18th.

Thank you for your cooperation and continued support as we work to ensure a safe, enjoyable, and well-organized celebration for our students.

🐾 A Note From the Principal: My Purpose and Passion💙 🐾 A Note From the Principal: My Purpose and Passion💙

Dear Booker Families and Staff,

As we close out this semester, I want to take a moment to celebrate the incredible work of our teachers and students. The data we are seeing is promising, and it clearly reflects the dedication, focus, and effort demonstrated across our campus. Simply put—our teachers and students rocked this semester, and they did so with success on top.

I could not be prouder of where we are right now. The growth we are seeing is the result of strong instruction, intentional planning, perseverance, and a shared commitment to excellence. This momentum matters, and it is something we should all be proud of.

At the same time, our work is not finished. We have 58 days until STAAR and fewer than five instructional weeks remaining before TELPAS. Every lesson, every minute of instruction, and every opportunity to support our scholars counts. The foundation is strong, and now it is time to press forward with purpose.

Thank you to our teachers for your unwavering commitment, to our students for rising to the challenge, and to our families for your continued partnership. Together, we will continue building on this success and finish strong. Parents, we appreciate your support, as well - more than you know!

With pride and gratitude,

Keisha Womack

ATTENTION PARENTS: PLEASE READ! WE NEED YOUR HELP!

STATE LAW - HELP US HELP YOUR CHILD WHILE AT SCHOOL!

In accordance with Senate Bill 12 (SB 12), parents now must opt in to allowing their child to be seen in the school clinic during the school day.

Please note that if you do not choose to opt in:

  • Your child may only be seen in the clinic for emergency situations.

  • Regular or non-emergency visits to the nurse (such as headaches, stomachaches, minor scrapes, or other routine concerns) will not be allowed.

  • You will be contacted to pick up your child for non-emergency situations.

  • screenings like eyesight, hearing, and scoliosis can not be performed.

We urge you to carefully consider this decision, as opting out significantly limits our ability to support your child’s health needs during the school day.

Thanks,

Nurse Hughes

Mindset of Mastery – No Mediocre Thinking Allowed

As we move through our mid-year testing, I want to focus on one thing—the Mindset of Mastery.

💭 Mastery Over Mediocre
At Booker, “good enough” is no longer enough. Our Bengals deserve excellence, not excuses. We are pushing every scholar to move from approaching to meeting and mastering grade-level expectations—aiming higher, trying harder, and beating their own best every day.

📖 Mastery Starts at Home
You can help by reinforcing high expectations:
• Read daily and ask questions
• Review math facts
• Encourage full-sentence responses
• Limit screen time and talk about learning

Ask your child:
“What did you master today?”
“What are you still working on?”

💪 We Can and We Will
Changing a campus begins with changing mindsets. When students, staff, and families believe mastery is possible, success always follows.
