Now that the school year is underway, many of us may be thinking about setting new goals and making positive changes. The Armstrong School Counseling Department would like to share some helpful tips for developing habits that support the positive changes we want to make in ourselves throughout the school year!

4 Tips for Developing New Habits That Actually Work:

  1. Make It Desirable: Find something positive about the habit you're trying to develop.
  2. Pair Your Habits: Connect a new habit with something you already enjoy.
  3. Focus on the Positive: Instead of focusing on what you want to stop doing, focus on what you want to accomplish.
  4. Keep Trying: Remember, change takes time! Be patient with yourself and celebrate your progress.

Small changes can lead to big results! We encourage our Armstrong students and families to set meaningful goals, stay consistent, and keep working toward becoming the best versions of themselves.

Please see the graphic below for additional tips!

Ms. Fox's Digital Media Explorations Class!

Students in Ms. Fox's Digital Media Explorations class explored the design thinking process through an exciting hands-on activity!

Students were presented with everyday challenges, such as β€œI need to keep my hands warm,” and tasked with designing creative, original solutions using various materials. The catch? They had to think beyond the obvious and could not simply recreate something that already exists!

This engaging activity encouraged students to think outside the box, problem-solve, experiment, and take creative risks while discovering how the design thinking process can be applied to real-world challenges.

Great job to Ms. Fox and her students for bringing creativity, innovation, and hands-on learning into the classroom!
