Weekly Update 9/5

September 5, 2025
Dear Oak Brook Families,
We have an exciting evening coming up for families to connect with our school community! On Tuesday, September 9, we have open house, spirit night and our first PTO meeting.
- Open House will give you a chance to visit classrooms, meet teachers, and see the great work your child is already doing this year.
- Spirit Night—a fun way to support our school while enjoying time together.
- We’ll also hold our first PTO Meeting on September 9, and we encourage all parents to attend and get involved in planning the events and activities that make our school so special.
Picture Day is also on Tuesday, September 9. Students will have their pictures taken during the day. More information about picture day may be found below.
Don't forget, our first 1/2 day of the year will be on Wednesday, we dismiss at 11:35.
Sincerely,
Katie & Chris

Oak Brook Night at Busch Stadium - Still some tickets left!
If you haven't ordered your tickets for Oak Brook Night at Busch Stadium on September 16th, don't forget to do that. We have a designated number of tickets to sell so our students can experience singing at the stadium. We hope you can join us.
Fun Run for St. Louis Children's
Starting on Sept. 15, The Oak Brook Family Groups of Mrs. Maxey, Mrs. Ryan and Mr. McGuire are doing a Fun Run for St. Louis Children’s Hospital to complete our service learning work. We are collecting money, blankets, coloring books, toys, and books for the children at Children’s Hospital. This project was chosen by our students because the kids at the hospital deserve as much joy and toys as we do. More information can be found at their website - https://www.stlouischildrens.org/giving/give/donate-items-from-our-wish-list
Focus on Character
This week we will focus on leadership. We define leadership as the ability to guide and inspire others. At school, students are learning about leadership by practicing skills such as responsibility, teamwork, and decision-making in their classrooms and through school activities.
Families can support this leadership growth at home by encouraging children to take on age-appropriate responsibilities, like helping with family chores, setting goals, and making choices that affect their daily routines. Talking with your child about problem-solving, showing respect for others’ ideas, and celebrating their efforts when they demonstrate initiative can also strengthen their confidence and ability to lead. Working together, school and home can help children grow into thoughtful, capable leaders.
