Laura's Village Monthly Newsletter
January 2026
Our Mission Statement
Laura’s Village empowers adults with special needs by nurturing their unique abilities, fostering independence, ensuring dignity, and building community.
What's happening this month?
You asked, and we listened. Join us on January 31st for an informative session on special needs trusts with Ryan Platt from A Special Needs Plan. This meeting will take place during the Davidson College Buddy Club, so buddies will be available just across the hall from our meeting room for your teen or adult. We will meet from 11:30 AM - 12:30 PM on the Davidson College Campus.
REGISTER HERE if you plan to attend.
Because of you, this happened! Thanks to your generosity, Laura’s Village—along with 58 other nonprofits—received donations during a truly record-breaking year for Giving Tree Village. We are grateful to have raised over $650, with all funds going directly toward our operating expenses to support our mission. Thank you for making such a meaningful impact!
Help Us Grow in 2026
At Laura's Village, we believe in “Cultivating Community,” and one of the most meaningful ways to do that is by inviting our community to be part of the work we do. When you share your time and talents, you help strengthen our mission and move our vision forward. Whether you love planning social events, supporting social media, organizing fundraisers, or helping with grant writing, just a few hours each month can make a tremendous difference. Empowered Abilities Day Program with Ms. Tiena
As we wrap up the year at Empowered Abilities, we’re smiling back on so many great moments! From skill-building, S.T.E.A.M. fun, and music therapy. To exploring ocean animals, learning how to keep our oceans clean, and creating “underwater” volcanoes, it’s been an amazing year. We also loved giving back by providing 80 blessing bags for FeedNC to support neighbors in need and making reindeer Christmas bags and Table & Treats for Sonshine Preschool students at Mount Zion United Methodist Church. We can’t wait to see what 2026 brings!
