A Message from Mrs. Albright
Friday, August 28, 2026
Thank you to all the families who joined us for 1st and 2nd Grade Back to School Night on Tuesday! We had an incredible turnout, and it was such a joy to see so many familiar and new faces filling our halls. Your presence and support set a fantastic tone for the year ahead, and we are so excited to partner with you for a successful school year!
This week, our students spent time practicing essential school safety routines, including how to respond during a fire drill, severe weather, and an unwelcome visitor scenario. We are so proud of how well everyone handled these practice events. The students did a marvelous job listening carefully to their teachers' instructions and taking each drill seriously. Thank you for your continued support at home as we work together to keep our school community safe and prepared!
Mark your calendars and save the date for our Fall Family Fun Night on Wednesday, September 23! We can't wait to kick off the school year together with an evening packed with creative crafts, exciting games, and fun activities for the whole family. Keep an eye out for more details soon. We look forward to seeing you there!
Gather your family and join us for the York Suburban Homecoming Parade on Thursday, September 24! We will line up in front of York Suburban High School by 6:15 PM to kick off an evening full of community spirit. Afterward, stick around for a bonfire, and lively homecoming festivities for all ages. Wear your orange and black, powderpuff games, and help us celebrate!
Students will be coming home soon with a book checked out from the library! Please make note of your child's library cycle day so you know when books are due. Every student receives a "Bee Bag" with their first library book. Please do not throw away the bag. It is our hope that books are carried to and from school in their Bee Bag to help keep it safe. See this library letter for more details. Happy reading!
Get ready to show your school pride. Monday is our very first pep rally of the year! Let’s kick off the celebration by wearing as much orange and black as you can from head to toe. Bring your ultimate school spirit and let’s make it an unforgettable day together!
I hope you and your family have a wonderful weekend making memories together!
Character Counts - Respect
During the month of September we are focusing on what it means to show respect. Respect means treating people, places, and things in a kind and caring way. At Yorkshire Elementary, we show respect by listening quietly when our teachers and friends are talking, using gentle hands with school materials, and remembering to say "please" and "thank you." When you are in the community, you can show respect by being quiet in places like the library, being careful with park equipment, and being polite to all your neighbors. Respect helps make our school and community a wonderful place to be.
