Legacy Ledger Summer Updates
August 4, 2025
Our 2025-2026 school year is about to begin, and we are sad to say goodbye to our summer break but excited to see our families again! The office team will return on August 6th. They will be involved in training during different times, but they will check messages throughout the day 303-646-2636. If you have moved or changed plans regarding your student and their enrollment, please let us know as soon as possible here.
The LABOD (Legacy Academy Board of Directors) will have a board meeting on August 5, 2025 at 6pm in the cafeteria (AGENDA HERE). If you cannot attend the LABOD meeting in person, feel free to watch via this Zoom link. You can find the past meeting minutes on our website or click HERE. Attending these meetings on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of each month counts towards volunteer time.

UPDATE: Expansion Project
Dear Legacy Academy Community,
I wanted to update you on the exciting progress of our Expansion Project. In July, the United States Department of Agriculture officially invited us to apply for a Rural Development Loan. This loan would fund the expansion of our current building and pay off the remaining debt from previous construction projects.
A large majority of organizations that are invited to apply for these loans receive approval, since much of the work on the project is done before the official invite is given. The application will be submitted to USDA in August, and we should get a decision in October.
This expansion will allow for more classrooms to be built, so that Legacy can accommodate 3 classes at each grade level. It will also add a pre-school, which is in high demand in our area. In addition, another gym will be built, along with a performing arts auditorium. This will allow for continued expansion of our athletics and performing arts programs. All of this with the goal of serving our students well. Iām looking forward to a great start to the school year.
Sincerely,
Merlin Holmes
Executive Director
Legacy Academy
6th Grade Orientation
6th grade students will have an orientation from 2-3pm on August 8th. Students are required to wear their school uniform and bring the necessary school supplies. Pre-ordered school supply kits will be handed out to students in their classrooms. Please plan to park and walk your students to the gym, where you will stay for a 45-minute orientation. Every 6th grade student is invited to participate in a science-based outdoor adventure trip at the YMCA in Estes Park, Colorado from September 8th-10th. For more information see Outdoor Adventure Trip. Please stop by the office to submit the required Tdap booster immunization documentation.
Back to School Night
Back to School Night will be August 8th 3-6pm for most grades. 6th grade orientation will be 2-3pm and Kindergarten will have an orientation meeting at 4pm. This is a night when students will receive their teacher assignment, turn in medical forms and get more information on transportation, the Before and After School Program, etc. We look forward to seeing you there!
Uniforms & Dress Code
You are not obligated to purchase school uniforms from any specific store, as long as they meet the same standards as those shown on Educational Outfitters' website HERE. (Make sure you are looking under Legacy Academy.) Please review dress code guidelines HERE before purchasing uniforms.. Exceptions: PE uniforms and hoodies/sweatshirts in class must be purchased from our online store HERE. Students are allowed to wear a navy, gray, or royal blue hoodie/zip sweatshirt if you do not want to purchase one with our logo. The items you buy from our online store (Royal B Threads) will be sent directly to Legacy Academy and delivered to your student in August. Legacy Academy has approved a basic gray or blue hoodie (zip-up or pullover) without the logo, allowing you to supply your own. The Wal-Mart in Elizabeth carries some of our uniforms, but could have some inventory that differs from our approved list so be sure to check the dress code before purchasing items.
Lost & Found
LABEL EVERYTHING! We have clothes racks and tables available for your viewing at the entrance of the building. Labeled items will be returned to the students. We donate items periodically during the year. Donation deadlines are communicated in the Legacy Ledger as they are scheduled.
Parent Portal Passwords
Legacy Academy uses two secure programs that require parents to set up passwords. Finalsite (formerly SchoolAdmin) allows parents to register and submit the needed information. Infinite Campus stores student information, including grades, attendance, and assignments. Mrs. McQuigg will set up your Parent Portal access for Infinite Campus, but you must email her at joann.mcquigg@legacyk8.org. You must include a twelve-character password (one capital, one character, and a number). Please allow two weeks for a response.
Lunch Menu/Options/Payments
Legacy Academy will offer free lunches through December! Information on lunches for the spring semester will come soon. Please remember hot lunches must be ordered by 8:15 am. If your student will be arriving after that time, you must call the office (before 8:15) to request one. You can view school lunch menus on our website. If you want your child to have milk with their cold lunch, there is a charge of $.75. You can pay by check, cash, or our payment method here. Please write checks to Elizabeth Food Service; cash must be in an envelope. We will need your student's first and last name and their teacher on the check memo or envelope.
Free & reduced lunch applications
Legacy Academy is excited to participate in the Healthy School Meals for All program, which Colorado voters have approved. All students will have access to free, healthy, nutritious school meals in the 2025-26 school year. Here is additional information and a few important reminders about what this means for our school and families.
Please continue to fill out the Household Application for Free and Reduced-Price School Meals. While meals will be free to all Legacy Academy students, we need to continue gathering this information to receive full access to available federal funds that support nutritional programs at our school. We ask all Legacy Academy families to complete the Household Application for Free and Reduced-Priced Lunches. By providing this information, you will help our district access all available funds to cover the cost of meals and other nutritional programs for students. Families who fill out the form may also qualify to receive discounted school fees, class materials, bus passes, utility support, and more. This form provides all household income information, which is strictly confidential and legally protected. Only one form is required for all children in the household. Immigration, migrant, citizenship, or refugee status is not required when completing the form.
To enter information for your online Free and Reduced Application, you must create an account with PaySchools (link below) using your student's School ID number. To get their ID number, call the office on Tuesdays between 9:00 am and 1:00 pm to request it. You only need to submit one application per household. PaySchools Central Online Free and Reduced Application.
If you have questions about completing the Household Application for Free and Reduced-Priced Lunches, please contact Teri Maher at tmaher@esdk12.org or 303-646-1850.
