Library visits will begin this week, September 5th. Hopefully, everyone has had a chance to sign up for a library time. If you are still needing a slot, please let me know and we can find a time for you to bring your class to the library. This week we will discuss library rules and procedures. I'm looking forward to seeing you all in the library this week!

Exciting News...our district has partnered with Bound to Stay Bound Books and Scholastic to provide students with free books. Each student in Pre-K through 5th grade will have the opportunity to select three free books. Please help me by letting parents know that these books are theirs to keep, and they should NOT return them since they are not library books. You can copy my message below and dojo it to your parents if you think they will have questions about it.

Dear Families,

Today your child selected free books to keep and enjoy at home. These are not library books and should not be returned to school. Please take some time to read with your child or encourage them to read independently. Reading is a skill that takes practice and the more they read at home, the stronger and more fluent they will become. Establishing a routine such as reading before bedtime, is a great way to encourage daily practice. Thank you and I hope they enjoy their books.

This month we are kicking off our first book of the month for our Principal's Book Club. The goal of our campus book club is to spread the joy of reading through read alouds. Each month we will feature a new book and deliver it to your classroom. We ask that you please read the book before the end of the month. There is a bulletin board across the library where we will display students responses to the book. Ideally, students can write responses about the book during their station time. I will be providing activities to go with the book when we deliver it each month. I will discuss further details at our upcoming faculty meeting, I was too excited not to share out now.
