Academy Avenue Announcements

Dear Academy Families and Friends,

This past week went by in a blur. Daylight Savings is here and usually Spring is sure to follow. Right now, we are seeing a huge lead in the K-2 grades on the Reading Challenge. We would love to see more out of our big kids in grades 3-5. One way to do that is to have an endless supply of books. Academy has a subscription to Bookflix and Trueflix, which include hundreds of thousands of books and videos right at your fingertips. Visit the site, the username is academyave and the password is bookflix. Same for trueflix, which is geared for students in grades 3-5 with higher level reading and videos on informational text.

The ST Math Challenge is on throughout the month of March. As other schools are working on puzzles in school like we are, we'll need nightly and weekend work to help us get the end and win each week. The competition has stepped it up this year and we're going to need extra effort to win.

Family engagement is a big part of the fabric of our school community. There are so many great things we want to teach and share with our students that require help from our families and friends. Parent Council plays a big role in supporting and providing many of these opportunities. As we near the third trimester of the year, I strongly encourage our families to connect with the parent council and be part of the team that brings so many great things to our students.

Lastly, this Tuesday, March 14th is a half day of school for the students. Dismissal is at 11:50AM.

AAPC News

AAPC is selling bricks to add to our existing brick walkway by the playground! All money raised will go into Phase 2 of the playground, which includes shade, seating, etc! Bricks are on sale through 3/14. Please visit our website at https://4everbricks.com/donors/aap/ to order.

Our Star Wars Writing Contest is open now until 3/24. Two winners will be chosen to receive 2 tickets each to the Star Wars Night at the Providence Bruins on 4/1.
