WELCOME BACK!
I hope you and your family had a wonderful summer. We are excited to welcome everyone back to school and kick off the new academic year. This year, we'll continue to focus on our core goals of academic excellence, personal growth, and community engagement.
While we have our big goals, we also want to celebrate the small things that makes SRC special. The brief hallway conversations, the "aha" moments in class, the shared laughter during lunch, and the everyday acts of kindness that make our communities a supportive and great place to learn.
We know that great things are a collection of small things done well. By focusing on these moments, we can create an environment where every student, staff member, and parent feels valued and connected. Culture is built 30 seconds at a time.
Here's to a great year filled with big achievements and countless small joys!

Game #2 of the Season
Twin River had to start their season on the road on Thursday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They fell just short of Blue River by a score of 3-2. The Titans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Blue River apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in August of 2024.
Laynie Allen was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she didn't allow a single earned run over 6.1 innings pitched.
At the plate, JLee Van Driel was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. She has been hot for a while, having posted at least one stolen base the last 12 times she's played.
Coincidentally, Twin River and Blue River will both be playing Guardian Angels Central Catholic the next time they take the field. Blue River will host the Bluejays at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, while the Titans will play them later in the day, at 6:00 p.m.
Game #1 of the Season
Blue River lost to Guardian Angels Central Catholic back in August of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Thursday. Blue River walked away with an 8-4 win over Guardian Angels Central Catholic.
Blue River let Danica Watts and Ashlyn Long run wild. Watts got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI, while Long went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Those three runs gave Watts a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Tayja Slonecker, who got on base in two of her three plate appearances with two RBI and one run.
Blue River always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .567. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Guardian Angels Central Catholic only posted an OBP of .250.

Message for the Week:
Message from Mr. Tejkl
You Find What You Look For...
Good afternoon!
I hope you had a great weekend and are ready for our second FULL week of school! As I touched on at the beginning of this newsletter, we had an amazing week because of our Staff, our Students, and our Patrons! Thank you to everyone who made the first week a memorable one. Now the challenge: How do we keep the great things going? One way - Look for the positives!
Within the dynamic environment of SRC, the quote "If you look for something to criticize, you will find it. If you look for something to compliment, you will find that, too. Your choice" holds significant weight for both staff and students. For our staff, the endless demands of the job can easily lead to a critical mindset. A staff member could choose to focus on negatives that can creep up throughout the day, and in doing so, find a constant source of frustration. This critical focus can lead to burnout and a sense of helplessness. However, by consciously shifting our focus to the positive, our staff can instead find moments to compliment a student's small victory, acknowledge a colleague's dedication, or appreciate the resources they do have. This choice transforms our daily experience, fostering resilience and a more supportive school community!
Similarly, for students, SRC is a complex environment where they can choose to either see the good or the bad. A student could dwell on a classmate's negative habits, a demanding workload of homework or activities, or a school rules that may crunch their style. This critical view can lead to a negative school experience, resentment, and disengagement. On the other hand, the same student can choose to seek out opportunities to be positive. They might notice a friend's kindness, admire a staff members' passion, or appreciate the effort that goes into a school event. This intentional act of looking for the good empowers them to find connection and fulfillment, continuing to may SRC a place of growth and possibility rather than a source of frustration. This quote reminds me, and I hope you, that our perspective is a powerful tool for shaping our reality!
Have a great rest of your Sunday!
Quote of the week to reflect on:
""If you look for something to criticize, you will find it. If you look for something to compliment, you will find that, too. Your Choice."
Katrina Mayer
Sincerely,
Tucker Tejkl
