Brockport CSD to host Rachel’s Challenge Student Seminars, Workshops, and Community Event
As you have likely heard by now, Brockport Central School District is working with Rachel’s Challenge to stimulate academic achievement and social-emotional learning by focusing on the connection between students, staff and community. The program got off to an excellent start with grade level assemblies on Wednesday during the school day followed by a training session for our Friends Of Rachel Club and a Community Event that night.
This week, we take our next steps with our Chain Reaction workshops! Each day September 19th through 22nd, members of each BHS grade level will be participating in a Rachel's Challenge Chain Reaction workshop. As space is limited, students from each grade level were selected at random and invitations were sent via email to students and parents. However, if your student would like to participate, they can still stop by the main office to pick up a permission slip and sign up. The goal is to work as a team to inspire and empower students to affect permanent, positive change within the District and community through their actions and words. An outline of our scheduled events is below.
It is our hope that this program, along with the ongoing and persistent efforts of our school community, will sustain a culture where harassment, violence and self-harm are reduced, where teachers are free to teach, and students are empowered to learn.
