Hello JLA parents and caregivers,

I hope you are enjoying your weekend and getting ready for a full school week. We will follow our regular schedule (8-2:40) all week. We will host Volleyball and Cheer tryouts after school and complete the i-Ready Reading diagnostic during the week.

I am hosting Coffee with the Principal on Thursday morning in the Parent Center. Our ESL classes begin on Friday morning in B3 at 8:30. We will also have Annual Verification support hours on Thursday and Friday morning (8-8:30) and Thursday after school (3-3:45). I hope you join us for these events.

If you have not completed your Annual Verification process yet, please do so this week. This information is critical to keep JLA updated on your contact information and supports critical programs, including afterschool clubs, field trips, WEB programs, student orientation, and staffing for Assistant Principal, CSA, and Rec. Aide positions at JLA. We are also holding an all-school competition. If we reach 92% completion for Annual Verification by September 30th, students will have their first free dress day the following week. Please help support the school and the free dress student opportunity by completing this critical task.

Reminder: Traffic is busy at the front entrance on Euclid before and after school. Please consider picking up your child at the back of the school on Mira Mar instead.

Need in-person help- Mr. Gonzalez will host Parent Support sessions in the JLA Parent Center on Thursday and Friday mornings, 8:00-8:30 am and Thursday after school, 3:00-3:30.

You will be able to see your student's upcoming, completed and missing assignments, current test scores and have access to instructional resources. Canvas is also a great way to communicate with your child's teachers.

Get ready to discover your next great read! Jefferson will host the Scholastic Book Fair the week of September 21–25. Students can shop before school, during lunch, and after school.

We know there are times when you need to pick up your child early. You can do this before or after their scheduled lunch period. If your child is at lunch, we are not able to release them quickly from the lunch area. Picking up your child before or after lunch will help you leave JLA without delay.
