2nd Grade Newsletter
December 8-12
Hello 2nd Grade Families,
We had another wonderful week with your amazing kids! We loved hearing about all the fun things that happened over Thanksgiving break!
📝 CogAT Testing
We are so proud of how well our students did during the CogAT assessment this week! They showed great focus, confidence, and perseverance. Thank you for helping them come to school rested and ready! Your support truly makes a difference!
🌟 Math
We’ve continued learning about telling time and distinguishing between am and pm. We have been practicing telling time in 15, 5, and even 1-minute increments. Be sure to ask your child what time-telling strategies they learned!
📚 ELAR (English Language Arts & Reading)
We are continuing our state research projects and are getting really close to the publishing phase. They’re becoming confident researchers and are learning how to present their knowledge in both digital and creative ways! Have them share some fun facts that they have learned about their state!
🗺️ Social Studies
This week, we’ve been practicing locating Texas on a U.S. map, as well as locating the states that surround it. Students are now beginning to explore the seven continents and oceans, building a solid foundation for understanding our world.
🔬 Science
We have been learning about how the Sun produces heat and light and how the Moon reflects the Sun’s light. Students are asking great questions and making connections about the patterns they see in the sky.

We truly appreciate your help in making sure every child has a stress-free and smooth lunchtime. Thank you for your cooperation and support!
