New Bus App to track your child's bus New Bus App to track your child's bus

open_in_new zoom_out_map
Parents, we are piloting a new bus app to help us track the bus your child rides. The app is called "Versa Trans My Stop". Each child will have a unique username and password. We will send that information home with your child on Monday, Sept. 23rd on a bright yellow piece of paper along with directions on how to install and set it up on your smart phones. We are excited to have this new tool to help us know where the buses are, if they are late, or if there are any issues. We know getting to school and getting home safely is one of the most important parts of the day. We encourage ALL parents who have children who ride the bus to use it. We will send out a survey later in the year to see if it is helpful. You can also call the school to get your username and password if you can't find it in your child's backpack or if you need support installing it. Click here for directions in English Hmong Spanish Karen

Parent Volunteers & Field Trip Chaperones - New Requirement this year Parent Volunteers & Field Trip Chaperones - New Requirement this year

open_in_new zoom_out_map

Parents and family members play an important role in our students' lives here at school and at home. We appreciate all of our family/parent volunteers to support our students here at school and attend field trips as chaperones. To keep our students safe, SPPS is requiring all volunteers and field trip chaperones to clear background checks. If you think you will be going on a fieldtrip this school year or would like to volunteer in the school to work with our students, please contact Neftali Ramirez to get a background check. The cost will be covered by the district. We encourage you to do it now so you can participate in any fieldtrips your child may go on this year. They do take a few days to process. Please call the family room at 651-744-2947 or fill out the form here if you are interested and someone will reach out to you.

Food and Treats Policy for Celebrations and Birthdays Food and Treats Policy for Celebrations and Birthdays

zoom_out_map

In many cultures, we often show our love and care through sharing food and treats. We understand how important this is, especially when it's our birthday, or a special occasion, like Halloween or Valentine's Day. However, we have a growing number of students with health and nutritional needs that can be put at risk if exposed to certain foods. Rather than excluding our students from celebrations, we would like to have all of our classrooms find ways to celebrate and have fun together in ways that do NOT involve food. If you would like for your child to share something with their classmates, please make sure it's NOT a food item. We can NOT put our students at risk. Please work with your child's teacher for some ideas that do not involve food. Thank you for keeping our students' health and safety first. Please call Principal Xiong or Nurse Michelle if you have any questions or concerns.

Meet Zaj, our friendly school mascot dragon! Meet Zaj, our friendly school mascot dragon!

Our PreK students meeting Zaj for the first time. They loved him!

Our students attended their Welcome Assemblies last week. Students met our school mascot, Zaj, and reviewed our school rules and ways we could show Dragon Pride here at school so we can all do our best learning this year. Please ask your child about the 4 Be's at school. Each student got a school t-shirt with an awesome message on the back, "Peb haib haib", which in the Hmong language means, "We are awesome". Each grade gets a different color. Last week, every single one of our students and staff went to our field and took a picture together. Even Zaj was there! This is our school community and we can't wait to show you our awesome Txuj Ci Picture for this 24-25 school year. Each Friday is school pride day. Please encourage your child to wear their school t-shirt or something from their culture that they are proud of.

Road Construction on Magnolia Street (East of Cypress) - Impacting Dismissal Road Construction on Magnolia Street (East of Cypress) - Impacting Dismissal

zoom_out_map
Magnolia Street in front of the school building is now blocked due to road construction by the City of St. Paul. This will be the case for the next few weeks. We understand the challenges we have of balancing between foot traffic, car traffic, bus traffic, and now construction traffic. Please consider coming a little later at 4:00-4:10 to pick up your child. This will help alleviate the congestion. Please do NOT make U-turns on Cypress between the hours of 3:45-4:10. This is our highest traffic time and can be very dangerous for our families. Thank you for your help.
