VPAW Quarterly Vol. 4
Exciting changes in place for 24/25 school year!
A new school year is here, and we're ready to take on challenges, explore new ideas, and succeed together!
Welcome to a new school year at the Virtual Preparatory Academy of Wyoming! We're excited to kick off this year with so many positive changes. First, we’re thrilled to announce our collaboration with Virtual Preparatory of Arizona, which has allowed us to provide a dedicated teacher for each grade level, ensuring more focused support for every student. We’re also welcoming some amazing new teachers to our team, who bring fresh energy and expertise to our classrooms. All of our teachers hold certification in both Wyoming and Arizona.
This year, we’re embracing a new approach to learning with standards-based grading, which will provide clearer feedback on student progress and mastery. Another exciting development is our leadership team—now we have additional administration to support our growing school community!
In addition, we're wrapping up our first school-wide sticker contest, and it’s been incredible to see the creativity and enthusiasm from all our students. Keep an eye out for our upcoming events, and please note the recent time change so you don’t miss anything.
We're ready for a year of growth, connection, and success—together!
New year, new faces, new VPAW
Engagement opportunities outside of class time
We’re excited to offer a variety engagement opportunities this year! One of which is our new clubs this year, open to all students from K-10! Our six clubs—Cooking, Arts and Crafts, Kindness, Young Authors, Science, and Kahoot—provide fun, engaging ways for students to explore their interests and connect with peers outside of regular class time. These clubs meet monthly and are a great way for students to learn new skills and express their creativity. We can't wait to see what our students will achieve through these opportunities! Follow the link below to sign up for clubs!
We believe that strong connections between students, parents, and teachers create the best learning environment. That’s why we’re offering several opportunities for families to get involved this year!
For our students, we’re continuing our Monthly Brunch Bunch, a fun way for them to socialize and build friendships outside of class. We also have engaging assemblies planned throughout the year to celebrate achievements and foster school spirit.
For parents, we’re excited to offer Parent Connections, a chance to network, share tips, and discuss ways to support student success in the virtual environment. This is a great way to stay involved in the school community while connecting with other families.

School Goals
The staff at VPAW have dedicated the first quarter to reviewing data and analyzing what our students need to be successful. We will share out our updated school goals for the 24/25 term in the Quarter 2 newsletter.
VPAW Staff
Teachers were invited to participate in a back-to-school professional development with the brick-and-mortar staff of Lincoln County 1 this year. VPAW staff had the opportunity present on the success of our program, listen to the superintendent's updates for the school year, dive into curriculum mapping, and meet with the regional vice president of Accel Schools!
Strategies for Maximizing Engagement at Home
Supporting your child’s learning at home can make a big difference in their success. Here are a few tips to help your student stay focused, motivated, and engaged in their virtual classroom:
Create a Dedicated Learning Space
Set up a quiet, organized area where your child can focus on schoolwork. Make sure it’s free from distractions and stocked with everything they need to learn.Establish a Routine
A consistent daily routine helps students know what to expect and makes it easier to stay on track. Include regular breaks, time for physical activity, and opportunities to unplug from screens.Encourage Participation
Encourage your child to actively participate in class discussions, group work, and school events. Remind them that their voice and contributions matter!Set Goals Together
Help your child set achievable goals for each week or month. Whether it’s finishing assignments on time or participating in clubs, having clear targets boosts motivation.Monitor Progress & Stay Connected
Keep an eye on your child’s academic progress and maintain open communication with their teachers. Using the new standards-based grading system, you’ll get regular insights into where your child excels and where they might need more support.Celebrate Successes
Recognize and celebrate both big and small accomplishments. Whether it's completing a tough assignment or earning a good grade, celebrating progress helps keep students motivated.
These simple strategies can go a long way in helping your child stay engaged and enthusiastic about learning!
