From the Principal

Mott Owl Families,

In honor of Education Go Get It Week, please take some time to talk with your child about what choices they have after high school graduation. Also, talk to them about how the choices they make now impacts what they can do in the future. I have two daughters. One went to barber college and the other went to a standard university. Both are successful in their careers, and are financially independent though they took different paths. Both of them love what they do. That's the goal!

Stay safe and well,

Tammy Rebecek

National Super Hero Day - April 28 - Dress Up Day

An extra dress up day! You don't have to have a store bought costume. Be creative. Use a towel or pillow case pinned to the back of a shirt as a cape. Any shirt or theme can be turned into a Super Hero!

Spring Fling Thank you's

The Spring Fling was a huge success. Thank you PTO for hosting this wonderful event. It was so nice to see all our Mott families come together again. So many individuals contributed to making this event a success. I wish I could name them all. Thank you to PTO president Melissa Lee for organizing all the pizza orders, thank you to the parents that signed up to volunteer through the sign up genius link and to Yanet Cabale ( Y.G&K Creations) for the beautiful balloons at our photo spot.

Principal's Reading Challenge

Has your child told you about the Principal's Reading Challenge? We have been talking about it on the announcements every morning. I talked to them about making sure they had a plan for reading over the long weekend. There were over 500 checkouts from the library on Friday! I think they took me seriously! 😊

Lunch

We have enjoyed having and seeing all the parents that have been able to come to lunch.

A few reminders if you come to eat lunch with your child.

  • If you have never signed into Mott for lunch or to volunteer we will need to scan your Drivers License.
  • Try and get here five to ten minutes before your students scheduled lunch time. That gives you enough time to sign in, walk down to the cafeteria and find a seat.
  • You are only allowed to eat with your child (No friends, cousins, neighbors)
  • We cannot pull students out of class to eat at the same time as their siblings. We do not want students to miss important instructional minutes. Please wait until your other student's lunch time to enjoy eating with them as well.

Camp Invention Offered This Summer

Spark your kid’s creativity and build their confidence with our new Camp Invention® program, Explore! When this nationally acclaimed program comes to Jessica Carpenter Elementary from June 13th to June 17th, children in grades K-6 will collaborate with friends in hands on, open-ended STEM adventures. They’ll dive into ocean research with their own robotic fish, develop inventions for space exploration, build a spinning robotic artist and design a mega marble arcade! Each activity is designed to inspire curiosity, stretch imaginations and give your explorer an epic summer experience. Visit invent. org/mylocalcamp to secure your spot! Use promo code SUM15 by 5/18 to save $15.

2022-2023 School Enrollment

Enrollment for students new to Mott for the 2022-2023 school year has begun. All of the information needed, including the forms that must be completed can be found at this link: https://www.pfisd.net/domain/232 Existing Pre-K students will need to re-enroll for kindergarten and provide one proof of residency and an undated shot record. If your child is a current K-5 student at Mott, you do not need to re-enroll.

Enrolling new students before the end of the school year is very important, because we base staffing numbers on enrollment numbers. If we need more teachers, we would want to know that now instead of knowing that in August. Please pass this information along to all your new neighbors!

Please contact our registrar, Mr. Ray, for any enrollment questions. steven.ray@pfisd.net or 512-594-4738
