Letter from Mrs. Perez
Dear Parents,
Next week our students will be participating in MAP (Measures of Academic Progress) testing. This is an assessment designed to measure your child’s growth in Reading and Math.
Unlike a traditional test, MAP is adaptive. This means the test adjusts to each student’s level, when your child answers correctly, questions become a little more challenging, and when they struggle, the questions adjust to a level where they can be successful. This helps give teachers a clear picture of what your child knows and what they are ready to learn next.
Why is MAP important?
It helps teachers understand your child’s strengths and areas for growth.
It provides data we use to tailor instruction to meet your child’s needs.
It allows us to track academic growth from year to year, not just a single point in time.
MAP testing is not about passing or failing, it’s about progress. We encourage students to simply do their best so we can support their learning journey.
MAP Testing Reminders (August 26 (English) & August 27 (Math))
Please help your child feel confident and ready by keeping these tips in mind:
Rest – Make sure your child gets a good night’s sleep before test days.
Breakfast – A healthy breakfast helps students stay focused and energized.
Punctuality – Arriving on time ensures your child doesn’t feel rushed.
Encouragement – Remind your child that the test is just one way to show what they know. Effort is what matters most!
Headphones – If your child has personal wired headphones, please send them.
Charged Chromebook – Please have your child bring their charged device to school.
Thank you for partnering with us to help your child do their best!
